Tata Motors has released the first set of teasers for the upcoming Harrier, Safari facelifts. Both models are expected to go on sale in the coming weeks, and bookings for the facelifted SUVs will commence on October 6, 2023.

    1. Harrier, Safari facelifts get all-new fascia
    2. Will get interior upgrades as well
    3. No powertrain changes expected

Tata Safari, Harrier facelifts: what to expect

Both SUVs have previously been spotted undergoing tests across the country many times. The teasers are in line with the spy shots and confirm an all-new front styling, along with some other tweaks.

For the refreshed Safari, the front bumper is all-new with a broader grille that gets new body-coloured inserts. The Safari continues with a split headlamp setup, but the design is now similar to the new Nexon with a flared C-shaped housing for the main cluster and a full-width LED daytime running lamp at the top. The teaser also shows a large central air intake underlined by a silver trim.

While the teaser does preview a fair bit of the fascia of the Safari facelift teaser, interestingly, the Harrier's teaser does not preview its styling updates, except for the connected LED lightbar at the top. This could mean that both SUVs will be more differentiated on their front fascia with their respective facelifts than with the outgoing models. For instance, some portions of the main headlamp cluster on the Harrier facelift is visible in the teaser that's slightly different than on the Safari.

In profile, both SUVs will not see major styling tweaks, although a new design for the alloy wheels are expected. At the back, the tail-lamp cluster could get a sharper design and is also expected to get a connected light bar on both the models. There will be minor styling changes to the rear bumper as well as the tailgate. The teaser also suggests there could be new colour options on both the SUVs.

Tata Safari, Harrier facelifts powertrain options

Under the hood, both SUVs will continue with the 2.0-litre diesel engine mated to either a six-speed manual or a six-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox. These powertrains were recently updated for BS6 Stage II emissions norms. Meanwhile, Tata Motors is working on petrol as well as EV powertrains for these SUVs but those are still some time away.

Tata Motors is known to release multiple teasers previewing changes and feature additions for its new models before the full reveal. Expect more details to trickle in on the Safari and Harrier facelifts in the coming days as a run-up to their launch, which will take place in the coming weeks.
