Prices for the Kodiaq could go up by two to four percent.

Skoda India launched the 2022 iteration of its flagship SUV, the Kodiaq, on January 10. This seven-seater SUV, now features revised styling, some new equipment, and more importantly, is available only with a petrol engine. It came with three variants at launch and was priced between Rs 34.99 lakh and 37.49 lakh, ex-showroom, India. But, if you are looking to bring home a brand-new Kodiaq, here’s a piece of information that might interest you.

  • First batch sold out within 24 hours
  • Waiting period is over four months
  • Prices of Kodiaq range to increase

Skoda Kodiaq price hike: what's to know?

Skoda India has managed to find buyers for its entire first batch within 24 hours of its price announcement. The company, however, has remained tight-lipped on the number of units in this first batch, which would otherwise paint a correct picture of its demand-supply equation.

For buyers who have missed getting an allotment of the Kodiaq in the first batch, there’s some bad news. Waiting periods have already soared to over four months, and in a recent reply to a Twitter user, Zac Hollis, director, Sales and Marketing, Skoda India, hints at a price hike for the subsequent batches of the SUV. Dealers indicate a price hike of two to four percent, however, Skoda India hasn’t officially commented on the revised prices as of now. We’ll be updating this space when they do.

If you’re disheartened by the news of the Skoda Kodiaq being sold out, we’d suggest you scan multiple Skoda dealerships in and around your home town, as, due to cancellation or other reasons, you could get lucky and find unsold inventory, similar to the Skoda Octavia RS 245 and Skoda Karoq, where a handful of unsold examples were lying at dealerships even after the company’s announcement of selling out their respective units.

Skoda Kodiaq: features and specs

In summary, Skoda’s flagship seven-seater SUV is loaded with features like heated and cooled front seats, panoramic sunroof, hands-free parking, 360-degree camera, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless charging, as well as safety kit like nine airbags, ESP, hill-start assist, hill-descent control, electronic differential lock and a lot more.

For 2022, this SUV also gets dynamic chassis control, where it adjusts its suspension softness based on driving modes. This iteration is now powered by a 190hp, 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic that transmits power to all four wheels. While it doesn’t have any direct seven-seater petrol-automatic rival, buyers looking for the 2022 Kodiaq are likely to also consider the Volkswagen Tiguan, Toyota Fortuner and Citroen C5 Aircross.

What are your thoughts on Skoda already increasing the prices of the new Kodiaq? Let us know in the comments.
