Having been on sale for a few years now, the current-generation Skoda Superb received a facelift in international markets in 2019. Today, the Skoda Superb facelift has made its India debut at Auto Expo 2020, ahead of its launch in the coming months.

As you’d expect from a facelift, the updated Superb has gained a redesigned front bumper, new-look grille and added chrome trim between the LED tail-lights. The Superb facelift is the first Skoda model to get full-LED Matrix headlights – both, the Superb Sportline (finished in red) and the top-spec Superb Laurin & Klement (finished in brown) that are showcased at the motor show get this feature.

Speaking of the Skoda Superb facelift's interior, it now gets a Virtual Cockpit digital instrument cluster, an updated infotainment system and wireless smartphone charging.

A BS6-compliant, 2.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine replaces the BS4 model’s 1.8 TSI petrol. The new engine produces 190hp and 320Nm of torque, which should bless the Superb facelift with sprightly performance. The 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic has been carried over from the pre-facelift car. In case you are wondering, there will be no diesel option for India, which is in line with Skoda’s plans to go petrol-only in the BS6 era.

Set to follow the introduction of the Octavia RS, Karoq and BS6 Rapid, expect the Skoda Superb facelift’s price in India to be slightly higher than that of the outgoing petrol model (Rs 25.99-30.99 lakh) when it is launched around May 2020.

Think the Skoda Superb facelift looks like a more appealing package on the whole? Let us know in the comments.
