Skoda is set to reveal the fourth-generation Superb and second-generation Kodiaq globally later in 2023. Both models will have their own world premieres, and ahead of that, Skoda teased the design of the Superb sedan and Superb Combi estate as well as the Kodiaq SUV.

    1. Skoda Superb, Kodiaq will debut separately
    2. Superb Combi unlikely to come to India

New Skoda Superb, Kodiaq: what to expect

In the silhouette images shared by Skoda, very little of the design is visible, however, it does show the LED light signatures on both models. The Superb is visible with a single L-shaped LED headlight signature, similar to the outgoing, third-generation model. At the back, the sedan and estate models are shown with thin, C-shaped LED lights. Also visible is the lip spoiler on the Superb and a spoiler on the Superb Combi.

The Kodiaq’s teaser image shows the second-generation SUV with an L-shaped LED headlight signature with another, smaller light signature below it. At the back, the SUV’s tail-lights also get C-shaped LEDs. While these had a flat design on the Superbs, the ones on the Kodiaq have a more pointy, hexagonal-like shape. The SUV is also visible with a spoiler and the rear seems to have a BMW X5-like design.

New Skoda Superb, Kodiaq powertrains, production plans

The new Superb and Kodiaq will continue with petrol and diesel powertrains, and they will also get plug-in and mild-hybrid powertrains. Skoda, however, hasn’t revealed the details of any powertrain options yet.

Additionally, Skoda also mentioned the Superb and Superb Combi will be manufactured at Volkswagen Group’s plant in Bratislava, Slovakia. The Kodiaq will be manufactured at Skoda’s facility in Kvasiny, Czech Republic, where the first-gen model is also built.

New Skoda Superb, Kodiaq India launch plans

While Skoda hasn’t mentioned when the new-gen Superb and Kodiaq will launch in India, expect the SUV to make it here first since Skoda still sells the first-gen model. The Superb could also make a comeback to India as it has been a segment leader for a long time. It is highly unlikely that the Superb Combi will be sold here as the demand for estate cars has never been great.

    Upcoming Skoda EVs

Earlier this week, Skoda announced a mega EV roll-out plan of six all-electric vehicles by 2026. These include a new “Small” EV SUV, the new Elroq SUV, a “Combi” EV estate and the seven-seater “Space” EV SUV. Additionally, the Enyaq models will also be updated by 2025.
