The all-new Maruti Dzire’s price announcement – we can confirm – is scheduled to take place after Diwali. The next-gen compact sedan's exterior design will be differentiated from the Swift hatchback, though it’ll share a lot underneath the skin.

  1. New Maruti Dzire to get horizontally slatted grille, slim headlights
  2. Will get new alloys, wraparound LED tail-lights
  3. Gets sunroof over the Swift, other features expected to be the same

Unlike its predecessors, the new Dzire will be better differentiated from the Swift, with which it shares its Heartect platform. Maruti’s compact sedan will feature an Audi-esque nose, a blacked-out horizontally slatted grille, slim headlights and a slightly sportier-looking front bumper.

New designs for the similar-sized alloy wheels; new, wraparound LED tail-lights; and a boot that seems to be as large as its predecessor with more angular creases will further differentiate the hatchback from the compact sedan.

Another major difference is the presence of a sunroof. However, the new Dzire will share a lot of its interior with the Swift, although it is expected to be finished in lighter colours to make the cabin feel airier. The features list on the top-spec variants is expected to include a 9-inch free-standing touchscreen, a climate control system, and an analogue instrument cluster with a 4.2-inch digital MID.

The New Dzire will use the Swift’s 1.2-litre, three-cylinder Z Series petrol engine. In the hatchback, this unit makes 82hp and 112Nm of torque when running on petrol, and 69.75hp and 101.8Nm running on CNG. Petrol variants will get 5-speed manual and AMT options, while the CNG versions will only get a manual.

The new Dzire's launch is expected around Diwali, and the CNG version's prices are expected to be announced later. The new-gen model will cost a premium over the outgoing Dzire, which is priced between Rs 6.57 lakh-9.34 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

It rivals the Hyundai Aura, Honda Amaze and Tata Tigor, and more details will be revealed shortly.
