Skoda has unveiled a closer-to-production version of the Epiq electric SUV at the ongoing Munich motor show. This was first previewed by a concept back in March 2024. At 4.1 metres in length, the Skoda Epiq will be the brand’s smallest EV when it goes on sale globally in 2026. It will be positioned below the 4.4-metre-long Elroq and is based on the MEB Entry architecture as other small VW Group EVs.

  2. Gets the brand’s Modern Solid design language
  3. Claimed to offer up to 425km of range

Skoda Epiq design evolution from concept

This closer-to-production version of the Epiq retains much of the aesthetics of the original concept that previewed Skoda’s Modern Solid design language. However, some of the details now appear closer to production spec. Skoda says this heavily evolved second iteration will make it to the showrooms mostly unchanged.

Compared to the concept, the changes are mostly to the lighting elements and the front and rear bumpers. It continues with Skoda’s new 'Tech Deck' face, but the headlamps with T-shaped DRL signatures are a little more fleshed out, and so are the eight vertical slats on the bumper. A similar theme has been mimicked at the rear as well. A defining design element on the Epiq is the pronounced shoulder line, which Skoda calls the 'tornado line'.

Skoda Epiq interior and features

Skoda hasn’t showcased the production-spec interior yet, but the concept previewed a minimalist interior with a tiny instrument panel and a large central infotainment screen. There will also be some physical buttons on the centre console and haptic scroll wheels on a new two-spoke steering wheel. Skoda says the interior will major on usability and everyday practicality with clever storage solutions including bag hooks, fasteners and hidden underfloor compartments. The brand also claims it will be able to seat five passengers in comfort and offer 475 litres of boot space.

Skoda Epiq powertrain and platform details

Full technical details are still awaited, but Skoda has said it will offer up to 425km of range. Sharing the MEB Entry architecture with the new ID Polo, also unveiled at the Munich motor show, the Epiq is expected to come in a front-wheel-drive configuration. Two battery sizes are expected – 38kWh and 56kWh – and it will also boast of V2V and V2L charging capabilities.

Skoda says the Epiq will be priced to match its petrol-powered counterpart, the Kamiq. The final production version will be revealed in mid-2026, at around the time Skoda is set to add a large seven-seat electric SUV based on 2023's Vision 7S concept – serving as an EV equivalent to the Kodiaq.
