What are the changes to the dual tone MG Hector?

Compared to the standard model, the dual-tone MG Hector gets a contrasting black finished roof, A pillars and wing mirrors. The dual-tone option is available with the Candy White and Glaze Red paint shades.

There will be no changes to the cabin, with equipment and trimmings to remain unchanged from the standard Hector Sharp.

What engine options will be on offer?

As with the standard Hector Sharp, engine options include a 143hp, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol and a 170hp 2.0-litre diesel engine. The turbo-petrol is available in both standard and mild-hybrid spec. The mild-hybrid unit is paired with a 6-speed manual, while the non-hybrid petrol is paired with a 6-speed dual-clutch gearbox. The diesel is available solely with a 6-speed manual.

    What are the rivals?

The MG Hector takes on the popular Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos, Nissan Kicks and the Tata Harrier, all of which are available with dual-tone exterior finishes. While official prices are yet to be revealed, the dual-tone options are expected to cost premium of Rs 20,000 over price of the standard Hector Sharp.

To put in perspective, the standard Hector Sharp is priced at Rs 16.64 lakh for the petrol mild-hybrid, Rs 17.56 lakh for the non-hybrid petrol automatic, and Rs 17.89 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom, India, except Kerala) for the diesel.

MG is expected to introduce dual-tone colour options for the seven-seat Hector Plus as well in the coming months.

What else is on the cards from MG?

MG is presently gearing towards the launch of its premium full-size seven-seat SUV, the Gloster in India. The carmaker also recently celebrated its first anniversary in India with the launch of a special anniversary edition of the Hector, packed with some additional kit.

Coming to 2021, MG is looking towards launching the standard petrol ZS SUV in India. Also on the cards is a Maruti Ertiga rival along with a larger MPV to rival the Kia Carnival.
