Ahead of its official unveiling on November 26, Mahindra has been drip-feeding new details about the upcoming BE 6e and the XEV 9e. We can now confirm that the brand will also reveal the prices of both SUVs on the same day, although only partially, just as it did with the Thar Roxx. Mahindra will be looking to position its first wave of born-electric SUVs aggressively in the market as it finally takes on the mainstream EV segment, so a disruptive starting price certainly cannot be ruled out.

    1. Mahindra BE 6e, XEV 9e both to get 59kWh and 79kWh batteries
    2. Gets features like Level 2 ADAS, in-car cameras, and patterned lighting in sunroof
    3. Outputs range from 231hp to 286hp for RWD models

Mahindra BE 6e, XEV 9e technical details

BE 6e and XEV 9e will be based on a born-electric architecture.

Mahindra recently confirmed that the BE 6e and XEV 9e will be equipped with 59kWh or 79kWh battery packs and that using a 175kW DC fast charger, the batteries can charge from 20 percent to 80 percent in just 20 minutes. Both are expected to be rear-wheel drive only at launch, with motor outputs ranging between 231hp and 286hp, depending on the application. They will feature what Mahindra calls a ‘compact three-in-one powertrain’, made up of a motor, an inverter, and the transmission.

Mahindra BE 6e, XEV 9e exterior design

Both coupe-SUVs remain surprisingly true to their concepts.

The design will be a huge talking point for the upcoming SUVs, and all teasers and spy shots so far have hinted that the concept-like design will be retained in production form too. The overall coupe-SUV form factor has been retained from their respective concepts, with aggressive cuts and creases and heavily contoured surfaces. Both SUVs will also feature an illuminated exterior logo, aero-optimised alloy wheel, heavily flared wheel arches with gloss-black cladding, and full-width LED DRLs at both the front and back.

Mahindra BE 6e, XEV 9e interior and features

The BE 6e will have a cockpit-like interior with a halo wrapping around the driver’s side of the cabin, and it will also have dual floating infotainment screens. Meanwhile, the XEV 9e, which is a derivative of the ICE-powered XUV700, will have triple screens stretching across the width of the dashboard and will share some switchgear with the XUV700.

Both will get a segment-first pattered-lighting for the panoramic sunroof.

Mahindra is really going all out on the equipment front for both these SUVs. Some highlights include Level 2 ADAS assistance with five radars, in-car cameras, 5G connectivity, Dolby Atmos audio with a 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, and a segment-first patterned lighting in the panoramic sunroof.

Mahindra is expected to tease us with a few more details before the big unveiling on November 26, so stay tuned to this space.
