Kia Syros EV spied in camouflage

First-ever spy shots of the upcoming Kia Syros EV have surfaced online, giving us a taste of what the production version could look like. While the Syros EV India launch timeline is said to be between January and March 2026, a specific date is still unclear, and Kia will sell the model alongside its combustion-engine counterparts.

  1. The Syros EV shares its K1 platform with the Hyundai Inster EV
  2. Level 2 ADAS, ventilated seats, 12.3-inch touchscreen likely in Syros EV feature list

We expect the Kia Syros EV price list to range between Rs 15 lakh and Rs 20 lakh. Kia estimates that the Syros and Carens Clavis electric stablemates could bring in combined volumes of 50,000-60,000 units by 2026.

Kia Syros EV spy shots explained

Boxy shape and greenhouse identical to the Syros ICE

Kia Syros exterior frontFamiliar boxy silhouette and upright stance.

Though the car is heavily camouflaged, its boxy silhouette, partially exposed headlights and tail-lights, and alloy wheel design confirm it is the electric Syros. One can also spot an identical-looking radar unit on the front grille (part of the ADAS suite), outside rearview mirrors, parking sensors and a tall greenhouse area above the beltline, all of which are sans camouflage. Interestingly, the brake callipers on the test mule are finished in a lime green shade, which Kia only offers with performance-focused models like the EV9 GT in international markets. Also, the charging port is mounted on the front right fender.

Though the Syros interior is not visible, the features and safety equipment from the ICE model are expected to be carried over. These include dual 12.3-inch screens for infotainment and instrumentation, a panoramic sunroof, reclining, sliding and ventilated second-row seats, Level 2 ADAS and a 360-degree camera setup.

Kia Syros EV range, battery and motor specs

FWD electric motor is confirmed

Specifics about the new Kia EV are still unclear, but we do know that the SUV will have front-wheel drive and share its K1 platform with the Hyundai Inster EV. Additionally, the Syros may borrow the Hyundai EV's 42kWh and 49kWh battery pack options. For reference, the Inster EV range is WLTP-rated at 300km with the former unit and 355km with the latter.
