We’re less than three weeks away from the Hyundai Venue’s launch in India. And today, Hyundai opened bookings for its first-ever sub-four-metre SUV, with the booking amount set at Rs 21,000. What we also now have is the list of Hyundai Venue variants and paint scheme options that’ll be on offer when this new compact SUV goes on sale on May 21.

With a total of four engine-gearbox options on offer, in all, there will be 13 Hyundai Venue versions to choose from – eight petrol versions and five diesel versions. Aiming for an attractive starting price, Hyundai will offer the Venue with the same 83hp, 1.2-litre petrol engine as seen on the Hyundai i20, combined with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The Venue 1.2 petrol will only be available in base E and S trim levels and will be the entry point to the Venue range in terms of pricing.

There will be more in the way of choice if you want the Venue with the new, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine. The three-cylinder T-GDI motor produces 120hp and 172Nm of torque and will get the choice of a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The Venue 1.0-litre, turbo-petrol-manual line-up will start with the S trim level, and will also be available in higher SX and SX (O) variants. As for the Venue 1.0-litre turbo-petrol DCT, it will only be available in two trim levels – the S and the fully loaded SX+.

The Venue diesel will be powered by the same 1.4-litre, four-cylinder unit seen in the Hyundai Verna and Creta that produces an equally familiar 90hp and 220Nm of torque and can only be had with a 6-speed manual gearbox. Speaking of trim levels, the Hyundai Venue diesel variant line-up includes the base E, the S, the SX and the range-topping SX (O).

Also on offer with the Hyundai Venue will be a total of 10 paint schemes – seven single-tone colours and three dual-tone paint schemes. All variants of the Hyundai Venue can be had in Star Dust, Fiery Red, Polar White, Typhoon Silver, Deep Forest, Lava Orange and Denim Blue paint and the dual-tone paint options include Denim Blue with a Polar White roof, and Polar White and Lava Orange with a Phantom Black roof. What's worth noting is that the dual-tone paint schemes are available only with the manual SX trims of the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol and 1.4-litre diesel Venue models.

The Hyundai Venue’s launch will take place on May 21, 2019. And right from the time it enters the market, the Venue’s rivals – the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport and the Mahindra XUV300 – will give it stiff competition. The Hyundai Venue’s price is expected to range from Rs 8-12 lakh (ex-showroom).
