A test mule of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 facelift has been spotted testing on Indian roads for the first time. This updated iteration of the Ioniq 5 EV was first introduced globally in March 2024 and gets a few nip-and-tucks on the exterior and interior, along with a bigger battery pack.
- Ioniq 5 facelift gets revised bumpers and fresh alloys; 20mm longer overall
- Interior gets more buttons, new steering wheel, repositioned wireless charger and more
- New 84kWh battery enables up to 570km range (WLTP-claimed)

Mild revisions on the outside

The Ioniq 5’s futuristic design remains largely unchanged in the facelifted model but features incremental tweaks. Up front, the most noticeable change is a sportier, more open bumper that appears somewhat inspired by that of the performance-focused Ioniq 5 N.

Over to the side, the only update is a new set of alloy wheels, while the rear end sports a revised bumper, a wiper and a 50mm wider roof spoiler. Owing to the updates on the front and rear, the Ioniq 5 facelift is 20mm longer than the outgoing model.
New steering wheel and more physical controls in the cabin

Inside, the Ioniq 5 facelift brings a new three-spoke steering wheel with interactive pixel lights, as well as a revised centre console that houses additional physical controls, particularly for functions such as first-row heating and ventilation, steering heating and park assist, to name a few.
Lower down, a relocated wireless charging pad can also be observed, alongside new cup holders and an array of buttons. The Ioniq 5 facelift’s infotainment system also gets OTA (over-the-air) updates and runs updated software, while the digital driver’s display looks to feature revised graphics.

It’s worth noting that in some international markets, the Ioniq 5 facelift comes with cameras instead of outside rearview mirrors (ORVMs), which project the outside view through a pair of screens on both sides of the cabin. As the spy shots indicate, though, the India-spec Ioniq 5 facelift will get traditional ORVMs.
Hyundai also claims to have reinforced the facelifted Ioniq 5’s doors, B-pillars, and body stiffness to improve safety. NVH enhancements are part of the package, too, specifically upgraded dampers that reduce steering wheel vibrations, doubly reinforced rear end and underbody to lower noise, and increased sound insulation around the rear motor.

84kWh battery expected to be specced with RWD

The headline update for the Ioniq 5 facelift is a larger 84kWh battery pack replacing the outgoing model’s 72.6kWh unit. This larger unit can be paired with a rear motor (RWD) or dual motors (AWD) in international markets, but Hyundai is likely to opt for an RWD setup in the India-spec Ioniq 5 facelift.
In RWD guise, the Ioniq 5 84kWh makes 218hp and 350Nm – virtually identical to the current 72.6kWh model’s output – and 0-100kph comes up in a claimed 7.5 seconds. The top speed is rated at 185kph. However, the bigger battery’s upside comes in the form of range, which is claimed at 570km (WLTP) – up 119km over the ARAI-rated 451km range of the Ioniq 5 72 RWD.

As for charging, the facelifted Ioniq 5 84kWh supports up to 350kW DC fast charging, which allows a 10-80 percent top-up in just 18 minutes. AC charging times are claimed at 7 hours and 35 minutes.
Hyundai Ioniq 5 facelift India launch window and price estimate
Launch could take place within the next two months

Hyundai is expected to launch the Ioniq 5 facelift in India in Q2 2026, i.e., in the coming months. It will continue to rival entry-level luxury EVs such as the Kia EV6, BMW iX1 LWB, BYD Sealion 7 and Volvo EX30, among others. The Ioniq 5 price in India is currently Rs 46.3 lakh (ex-showroom), so expect the facelift to command a premium.
