The Hyundai Ioniq 5 has received a facelift in international markets, less than three years after the model was first introduced. In select markets, the EV SUV is available in standard, N Line and full-fat N form; some design details from the Ioniq 5 N can be seen on the facelift.

Hyundai Ioniq 5 facelift: what’s new mechanically

While Hyundai has confirmed that the refreshed Ioniq 5 will get the N version’s larger 84kWh battery pack, it has not mentioned how much the EV’s range has increased by; it should be higher than the current model’s ARAI-rated 631km. The Korean brand also says they’ve improved the dampers to reduce vibrations felt in the steering wheel, doubled the reinforcements at the rear and under the car to lower noise, and added more sound insulation to the rear motor for a quieter cabin.

The changes to the grille and the front and rear bumpers have seen the Ioniq 5 grow in size slightly. While the width, height and wheelbase are carried over, the EV is 20mm longer and the rear spoiler has been widened by 50mm. The facelift also gets a new design for its wheels and adds a rear wiper.

Compared to the standard model, the Ioniq 5 N Line boasts of a more aggressive design, with unique bumpers, side skirts and a set 20-inch aluminum wheels.

Much like the recent Tucson facelift’s interior, the Ioniq 5 facelift’s cabin features more physical buttons that are essentially shortcuts for the most frequently used functions such as first-row heating and ventilation, heated steering, park assist functions and more. The wireless charging pad has been moved for better accessibility and the new steering features interactive pixel lights. In addition, the infotainment gets OTA updates, there are more safety features, the brand has reinforced the doors and B-pillars, and increased body stiffness.

The N Line version gets all the usual N badging on the inside – on the steering, dash and seats – and gets metal pedals.

Hyundai Ioniq 5 facelift: India launch

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is priced at Rs 45.95 lakh (ex-showroom, India) and was launched last January. While the Korean company has not yet confirmed if the facelift will arrive in India, it is likely to come here in the future. Hyundai had also showcased the sporty-looking Ioniq 6 at the Auto Expo 2023, and is working on bringing the Creta EV to the market early next year.
