The 50 units allocated for the first batch of the Kodiaq RS in India were sold out in six minutes after bookings opened on June 22, claims Skoda. Though the price of the Skoda Kodiaq RS is yet to be revealed, expect it to be on the higher end, at around Rs 60 lakh (ex-showroom). This high-performance version of the brand’s flagship three-row SUV offers a feature-loaded cabin, a robust safety suite and a potent powertrain. Here are the details: 

  1. Offered with a 265hp 2-litre TSI engine that does 0-100kph in 6.3sec
  2. Four exterior shades: Moon White, Steel Grey, Velvet Red and Magic Black
  3. Gets two screens, 3-zone AC, 13 speakers and powered sunshades 
  4. 9 airbags, TPMS, ADAS and 360-degree camera in safety kit

The India-spec Skoda Kodiaq RS is offered with a retuned version of the standard model’s 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbo-petrol engine, which produces 265hp and 400Nm. That’s an additional 61hp and 80Nm over the standard Kodiaq. A 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT) sends power to all wheels (AWD), and this SUV also gets a Dynamic Chassis Control Plus (DCC Plus) adaptive suspension system. Skoda claims a 0-100kph time of 6.3 seconds, making the Kodiaq RS “the quickest Skoda ever launched in India”.

Offered with four monotone paint options shared with the standard Kodiaq

The Skoda Kodiaq RS comes in four monotone exterior shades: Moon White, Steel Grey, Velvet Red and Magic Black, all of which are also available on the non-RS Kodiaq. The Bronx Gold, Graphite Grey and Race Blue options from the standard Kodiaq are not offered.

Inside, the Skoda Kodiaq RS gets an all-black cabin set off by red accents and stitching.

The India-spec Skoda Kodiaq RS comes equipped with a 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display and a 13-speaker Canton sound system with a subwoofer. It also gets dual 15-watt wireless phone chargers with ventilation, three-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof and powered sunshades on the rear windows. Powered sport seats at the front offer ventilation, heating and memory functions and come with manual thigh-support extenders. Adding to the convenience are powered outside rearview mirrors (ORVMs) equipped with auto-dimming, heating and memory functions and a powered tailgate.

In the exterior department, the Kodiaq RS gets LED Matrix headlights with all-weather lighting and cornering functions, a segmented light strip on the grille, LED tail-lights with welcome sequences and puddle lamps with a ‘Skoda’ logo projection. It rides on 20-inch dual-tone alloy wheels.

The Skoda Kodiaq RS comes with 9 airbags, a tyre-pressure monitoring system (TPMS), a 360-degree camera system, front and rear parking sensors, auto park assist, an auto-dimming inside rearview mirror (IRVM), hill-start assist and hill-descent control, ISOFIX child-seat anchorages and an advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) suite.

Skoda is expected to reveal the price of the India-spec Skoda Kodiaq RS in the coming weeks. Being a performance-focused version, it will likely command a significant premium over the top-spec standard Kodiaq, which costs Rs 46.99 lakh (ex-showroom).
