Citroen has rejigged the Basalt coupe SUV’s variant line-up, adding a new 'X' suffix to its name, feature improvements to its top-spec Max trim level, and price drops across the range. The Basalt X price starts at Rs 7.95 lakh (introductory). Pre-bookings for the Basalt X have been open since August 22 for a token amount of Rs 11,000.

Basalt X update makes the SUV more affordable.
The new Basalt X Max trim line features a price reduction from Rs 13.87 lakh to Rs 12.90 lakh – a difference of nearly Rs 1 lakh. Like the C3 X, the Basalt's starting price has also dropped by Rs 37,000. Here’s a price breakdown of the 2025 Basalt range:

Like the recently launched C3 X, the Basalt X doesn’t feature any notable differentiators on the outside save for a new ‘X’ emblem on the tailgate.

The Basalt X Max sports slanted patterns on the dashboard, bronze-coloured trim pieces and a new tan-and-black upholstery. Additionally, the dashboard is wrapped in leatherette for a more premium feel.
Basalt feature list sees much-needed improvements with X Max trim.
Arguably the most notable aspect of the Basalt X Max is its bolstered feature set. Taking centre stage is Cara, a new Citroen-developed in-car conversational assistant that can perform functions like real-time flight status tracking, traffic and route optimisation in accordance with flight schedules, vehicle health status updates, multimedia support, calling and SOS, smart reminders, and more. Cara is available solely in the Basalt X Max automatic variants.
You also get goodies like ventilated seats, cruise control, keyless entry, push-button start/stop, white ambient lighting, LED fog lamps, an auto-dimming IRVM and an optional 360-degree camera.

No changes on this front.
Under the hood, the Basalt X trim remains identical to the SUV's Max variants, offering a 110hp, 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that can be mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter auto gearbox. Entry-level Basalt X variants get an 82hp, 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol motor with a 5-speed manual transmission.
