BS6 Hyundai Venue diesel fuel economy revealed

The Hyundai Venue might have been on sale for less than a year, but it’s already got a significant mechanical change – its 1.4-litre diesel engine has made way for the carmaker’s newer 1.5-litre engine for the BS6 era. While prices and power figures for the updated Venue diesel have been known for some time now, we’ve just got our hands on the all-important fuel economy number for the new engine. The Venue BS6 diesel has an ARAI-certified fuel economy figure of 23.3kpl. For reference, the BS4 Venue diesel delivered 23.7kpl.

For prospective buyers, the marginal 0.4kpl drop in economy should be easy to digest given that the 1.5 engine is 10hp (to 100hp) and 20Nm (to 240Nm) more powerful than the old 1.4 unit.

The 23.4kpl economy figure also makes the Venue diesel the most efficient of the diesel compact SUVs. Here’s how the Venue BS6 diesel compares with its rivals on paper.
