2021 Audi Q5 facelift: What’s new?

The Audi Q5 SUV's facelift was revealed abroad in 2020 and it brought with it refreshed styling inside and out. On the exterior, the India-spec Q5 will come with a larger, more imposing grille, with vertical chrome slats, new LED headlamps and tail-lamps, reprofiled bumpers and new ‘S-design’ 19-inch alloy wheels.

Inside, the cabin gets some minor tweaks and comes packed with tech. Audi will offer the Q5 facelift in two trims  Premium Plus and Technology. The top-spec Technology trim will come kitted with Audi’s new MIB 3 infotainment platform with a larger 10.1-inch touchscreen and connected car tech. Additionally, it will also feature piano black inserts, Virtual Cockpit Plus (digital instrument cluster), wireless charger, a B&O Premium 3D Sound System and Audi’s Park assist. On the safety front, the new Q5 will come with eight airbags, including rear-side airbags, ABS with EBD and traction control.

2021 Audi Q5 facelift: engine and gearbox

Under the hood, the new Q5 gets the same 2.0-litre, turbo-petrol engine paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic as in the A6 currently on sale. However, it produces 249hp and 370Nm in the Q5. The Q5 facelift will also get Quattro all-wheel drive as well as Audi’s drive select and suspension with damping control. While the previous model was offered with a diesel engine too, the new Q5 will go down the petrol-only route, in line with its other offerings in India.

Audi Q5 facelift: competition check

Upon its re-introduction to our market, the Audi Q5 facelift will take on the likes of the Mercedes-Benz GLC, Land Rover Discovery Sport, BMW X3 and Volvo XC60.
