Audi India has announced that it has begun production of the Q3 and the Q3 Sportback at the  Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited (SAVWIPL) plant in Aurangabad. The Q3 was launched in India in August last year, while the Q3 Sportback was launched in February 2023.

    1. Audi Q3 received two price hikes since January 2023
    2. Audi already assembles the A4, A6, Q5 and Q7 in India

In a statement, Audi said, “With this, the VW Group reiterates its commitment to Make in India and continues to enhance its product offering to meet the ever evolving needs of the discerning Indian luxury customer.”

The Q3 will be the fifth Audi that is locally produced, along with the Audi A4, Audi A6, Audi Q5 and Audi Q7, at the brand's plant in Aurangabad, Maharashtra.

    Audi Q3, Q3 Sportback price

There is usually a drop in price once a model is locally assembled, which has been the case with the Mercedes S-Class and even BMW models. However, Audi India has stated that there is no reduction in the price of the Q3 line-up because the carmaker had anticipated the India assembly and hence, priced the SUV accordingly at launch.

The Q3 is currently priced from Rs 44.89 lakh, while the Q3 Sportback starts from Rs 51.43 lakh. In April 2023, Audi announced a 1.6 percent price hike, which was to go into effect from May 1, 2023. Other select models got a price hike of 2.4 percent. Audi cited the rise in customs duty and input costs as reasons for the hike. This price change, however, has not yet been reflected on the Audi India website.

Furthermore, in January, Audi increased the price of all models by 1.7 percent due to “rising supply-chain-related input and operational costs”.

Audi Q3, Q3 Sportback performance and features

While the Audi Q3 and Q3 Sportback differ in body styles, they share the same heart. They are powered by a 190hp, 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine, and coupled with a 7-speed, dual-clutch gearbox and all-wheel drive, it produces 320Nm of torque.

The SUVs come equipped with features such as LED headlights, powered front seats, dual-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, a 10.1-inch touchscreen, ambient lighting, a powered tailgate, a wireless phone charger and a 10-speaker sound system.
