Hi team, I'm 5′9″ and well built. I need a bike for my daily city commute of about 30 km, and I want it to be not above 350 cc. I am a sedate driver. Please suggest.

Since most of your usage is inside the city, bikes like the Hero Xpulse 210, Royal Enfield Bullet / Classic / Hunter 350, Honda CB350 trio and the TVS Ronin will make for good options to consider depending on your preference.

If you do want something a touch sportier but not very rambunctious, then the KTM 250 Duke also makes for a great companion.

A test ride of everything you decide to shortlist will help you make a decision.

I am a beginner who has recently learned to ride a bike and am considering buying a new one, but I am confused between the Yamaha XSR 155, MT 15, Hunter 350, and Honda CB 350 Highness.

All bikes you have shortlisted make for good beginner bikes with their unique strengths. The Yamaha XSR155 / MT-15 will be the lightest and easiest to manage machines with a sporty and engaging engine + chassis combination. They will also return excellent fuel economy. However, over long stretches of bad roads, the stiff suspension will cause some discomfort.

The Honda CB350 H'ness and Royal Enfield Hunter 350 are laid-back roadsters with torquey, smooth 350cc engines. They will be more comfortable but will not have as good fuel economy or handling capabilities.

It all boils down to the sort of experience you are after and the design you like the most, so a test ride of all four is in order.

What bike can I prefer at a ₹2 lakh price range? This will be my first bike, with daily usage of around 30-35 km and an occasional ride of about 200 km once a quarter.

Since this is your first bike, you should ask yourself what sort of rider you are and then pick the machine accordingly. If you feel you enjoy speed and want a sporty, engaging machine, then something like a KTM 160 / 200 Duke, Yamaha YZF R15 V4 / MT-15 and XSR155 will be good options to consider.

If you want to have a relaxed riding experience and want something stylish, then a Royal Enfield Hunter 350 or TVS Ronin would be a good starting point. Lastly, if you want a single 'standard' bike that can do most daily things, then something like a Honda CB300F would be a good option.

If you want something that prioritises fuel efficiency, a 160cc commuter from Honda, TVS, Bajaj, Hero or Yamaha would be the way to go.

Take thorough test rides of each machine you consider before making up your mind up.

I want to buy my first bike. I currently have an Ather scooter and a Splendor, which I ride very little. I want a retro-looking bike with good or decent mileage that is suitable for city riding, highway use, and occasional touring. I am considering the Triumph Speed T4 or the Yamaha XSR155, and I am open to other recommendations.

The Triumph Speed T4 will make for a better all-rounder because of its larger and more flexible 398cc engine. It is perfectly usable inside the city, and on the highway, you can cruise at early triple-digit speeds without breaking a sweat.

If you want similar looks but more performance and better componentry, the Triumph Speed 400 makes a good case for itself.

The Yamaha XSR155 is a much smaller - and lighter - bike that will have better handling and fuel economy, but will feel a little out of its element on the highway.

You should also look at the Royal Enfield Bullet / Classic / Hunter 350 models (depending on your budget and design preferences). They are smooth, charming and comfortable machines that can be used both inside the city and on the highway. For similar reasons, the Honda CB350 trio also warrant serious consideration.

A test ride of all of these, as well as anything else you're considering, will help you decide which one is the best fit for you.

I am looking for a modern retro bike and am confused between the RE Hunter 350 and the Honda CB350 RS. The Hunter seems to offer more value for money compared to the CB350 RS, but the looks, refined engine, and exhaust note pull me toward the CB350 RS. I am also considering the Meteor 350, but it feels a bit too big.

The Royal Enfield Hunter 350 has stellar pricing, and it's a big reason why we see so many on the road. In addition to that, with its most recent update, the company has also ironed out some of its most pressing issues and made it a more well-rounded machine.

The Honda CB350RS has a similar riding experience to the Hunter, but it will feel like a more substantial machine when you're riding it.

The Royal Enfield Meteor 350 weighs nearly 200kg and can feel big, especially in traffic or at slower speeds. But once you get moving, it masks its weight really well.

A test ride will help you decide which bike is right for you.

I own a Discover 150 with 1.4 lakh km on the odometer. I am 35 years old and work as a field service engineer, with a daily commute of 80 to 150 km in and around Chennai. I am considering an upgrade as the bike feels weak on highways. I prefer neo-retro designs and like the Hunter more than the Ronin due to the Ronin’s rear design. However, I am concerned about the running costs and reliability of a 350cc bike, as my work depends entirely on having a motorcycle.

Keeping your requirements in mind, you can consider the Royal Enfield Hunter 350 and TVS Ronin. Both are smooth, comfortable, relaxed, and decently fuel-efficient machines that will serve you well over your long commutes, and both aren't that expensive to maintain, by and large.
You can also look at the Honda CB350 trio for similar reasons as the ones listed above. These bikes will feel a size bigger than the Hunter and Ronin, but won't feel cumbersome to manage in city traffic.

I am currently using an Ntorq 125 and planning to upgrade to a bike. My height is 168 cm. My preferences include the Bullet 350, Guerrilla 450, CB300F, and Apache RTR 310. Daily usage will be in the city, with occasional long rides. Please guide me in choosing my first bike.

Considering this is going to be your first bike, we would recommend you start with something approachable and friendly like the Honda CB300F or the TVS Apache RTR 310. The Honda bike’s USPs are its affordable price tag, low ownership costs and light weight paired with a low seat height. Meanwhile, the TVS bike will have more exciting performance, sharper handling, as well as a smorgasbord of features.
Considering its near 200kg kerb weight, we'd recommend you steer clear of the Royal Enfield Bullet 350 and instead look at the Hunter 350, which has the same engine but is much lighter and more manageable. With its 40hp/40Nm output figures, the Guerrilla packs in very engaging performance and will be the most fun and exciting for a first-time buyer, but it can also feel overwhelming at times for a newer rider.
Take an exhaustive test ride of all the options you shortlist to see which one fits you and your usage best.

I have arthritis and back pain, and work in sales, which involves long and daily rides. Which bike would be better for me: the TVS Ronin or the Royal Enfield Hunter 350?

Both the TVS Ronin and Royal Enfield Hunter 350 are good options because they have a neutral rider's triangle, comfortable suspension, and are easy to manage. The TVS Ronin is a good deal lighter than this Royal Enfield bike, so we would steer you toward it if that is a priority for you.
You should also consider the Honda CB350 because it has good seating and suspension comfort, neutral ergonomics, and is easy to handle inside the city. Take a test ride of all three before you decide.

Is the CB350 H’ness a good choice for a first bike?

With its neutral ergonomics, gentle and measured power delivery, light clutch action and manageable seat height, the Honda CB350 H'ness should prove to be a great first bike for most riders.

Honda bikes also have a reputation for great reliability and low running costs, for by and large, most two-wheelers it sells in India, which should give you added peace of mind.

If you want an alternative from another brand with a similar riding experience and style, then the Royal Enfield Hunter 350 makes for a great option.

Take a thorough test ride of both before you make your decision.
