I am 41 years old and started my motorcycle journey with a Pulsar, which I rode for 15 years before switching to a Dominar in 2019. Although the Dominar’s power was addictive, it was not as smooth as the Pulsar and had vibes and niggles. I sold it and bought a Meteor 350 in 2021. While I enjoyed the smoothness of the J-series engine, it now feels underpowered. My rides are mostly in the city but include long commutes of 60–70 km and occasional weekend rides. What should I be looking at?
Since you mentioned you have long commutes, and you want something fairly engaging to ride, we'll recommend a mix of ADVs and comfortable roadsters. The new TVS Apache RTX 300 makes a strong case for itself as a single bike to do everything. It is definitely something that should be near or at the top of your list.
You can even take a look at the KTM 390 Adventure models and Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 - both are quick, comfortable and have great long-distance capability.
If you want a more road-biased bike, then options you can look at are the Triumph Speed 400, Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450, TVS Apache RTR 310 and KTM 390 Duke. Depending on the balance between performance and looks you want to strike, they all have something unique to offer.

I am 156 cm tall and have tried sitting on the Triumph Speed 400 and Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450. The Triumph Trident is my dream bike, but I would like to start with a 400cc motorcycle first. Which of these two bikes is better for long rides and city commuting?
Both the Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 and the Triumph Speed 400 are excellent first bikes and will serve you well, but they have different riding experiences. The Speed 400 is all about effortless torque and doesn't need a lot of revs to build speed.
The Guerrilla 450 also has a punchy midrange, but its engine continues pulling strongly to the redline, and it creates a more engaging riding experience because of that. The Guerrilla also has stiffer suspension, which is great for when you want to attack corners, but over repeated harsh bumps, it can get a little tiring.
Take a test ride of both before you decide.

Hello, Autocar. I am considering purchasing a new bike, and my shortlisted options are the RE Shotgun 650, Bear 650, Himalayan and Classic 650. My daily usage is not much, just a 5km commute to the office and back. I primarily want good suspension and design. Please share your advice. If there is any other model you would recommend, please mention it.
Of the three Royal Enfield 650s you have shortlisted, none of them has particularly comfortable rear suspension, especially so in the city. The Himalayan 450 would be the logical choice between the four you have considered but if you want something a little more manageable and nimble inside the city, you can look at its sibling - the Guerrilla 450.
If you want something that will stand out and look good, the Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 is a unique option that you can consider. Underneath its svelte, Swedish bodywork are the KTM 390 Duke chassis and engine, so you should have a supremely talented bike that will also be uncommon.

Since you haven't specified what your budget or your preferred style of motorcycle is, we'll give you a list of diverse options. In the ADV space, you can look at the TVS Apache RTX 300, Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, and any of the 250 / KTM 390 Adventure models, depending on the sort of power you want and your budget.
In the neo-retro space, you can look at the Royal Enfield Classic / Bullet 350 models and the Honda CB350 trio at the lower end of the scale, and the Interceptor 650 if you want something bigger.
If you want a sporty naked motorcycle, the Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 and the Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 will fit the bill. Do take exhaustive test rides of all machines you shortlist before putting your money down.

I own a Classic 350 which I have ridden only 20,000 km in the last 10 years. I want to buy a faster bike, like the Duke 390. However, that bike will also be used only once a week. Should I buy a new one, or is a pre-owned bike a better option?
A new bike will come with a warranty, and you will be the first one to break it in, so the peace of mind of buying a new machine is not to be discounted.
If you are looking at older bikes that are 4-5 years old or more, then you will also need to budget for a comprehensive service and perhaps some replacement cycle parts like tyres and brakes.
While the KTM 390 Duke is a great option, you could also look at the Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 since you've already owned a bike from the same brand.

I want to upgrade my almost 10 year old classic 350. I'm confused about the new Triumph T4, scram 440 and the Guerrilla 440. My budget is expandable and my daily commute is around 40 km. I want a comfortable bike with minimum maintenance. My ride will mostly city with occasional highway touring. My main priority is comfort and ride quality. Please suggest a good motorcycle.
Of the three bikes you have shortlisted, we would suggest you choose between the Triumph Speed T4 and the Royal Enfield Scram 440. These two will be more comfortable, although the Royal Enfield Guerrilla will give you more performance on the highway.
Since you've already owned a Royal Enfield Classic, the latest Royal Enfield Bullet / Classic is also worth taking a good look at because they will offer you good comfort and ride quality - both of which are important to you.
You can alternatively also look at the Honda CB350 models because they are comfortable, smooth, well-built and torquey.
A test ride of your shortlisted bikes will help you decide which is the best option for you.

My Highness is smooth and great for two-up riding. I’ve taken it on trips to Kerala and Tawang. Now I want a bike that is compact, fast, and has good suspension for Mumbai city use. Which bike would you suggest?
Some options you can consider are the TVS Apache RTR 310, KTM 390 Duke, Triumph Speed 400 and Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450. The Triumph and Royal Enfield aren't as overly sporty as the other two and will have a more effortless riding experience owing to their torque delivery, which is earlier in the rev band.
The KTM 390 Duke is a proven product when it comes to sheer speed, but in its latest avatar has become quite compact, which may not be the best thing if you are a larger person.
Last but not least, the TVS Apache RTR 310 has great handling and reasonable performance. We would recommend getting the variant with the quickshifter on the TVS as that offers the best value for your money.
Take a test ride of everything you're considering before you decide.

I am confused between the Triumph Speed 400, KTM Duke 250, and Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450. Which one should I buy?
Since you haven't specified what you're looking for exactly in your next purchase, we'll list out the strengths and weaknesses of all so you can decide for yourself.
The Triumph Speed 400 is the best all-rounder of all three bikes you're deciding between, with lovely city manners, decent highway capability, and good suspension comfort too. It also has the most premium badge on the tank if that's something important to you. If you do a lot of highway miles at triple-digit speeds, do bear in mind that post 105-110kph, there are quite a few vibes in the handlebars, seat, footpegs, and tank, which is one of the very few weaknesses of this bike in objective terms.
Coming to the KTM 250 Duke, while it has the least peak output, it has the sportiest chassis and the most engaging handling. The engine can feel a little dull below 6000rpm, but after that, it has an enjoyable rush of power till the redline. If you are someone over 5'9, you may feel a little cramped on the KTM.
The Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 will feel the fastest of the three - a very unusual thing to say about a Royal Enfield in any comparison. It is reasonably usable both in the city and out on the highway, and if you are of shorter stature, the Guerrilla will be the easiest to manage due to its low seat height.
Take thorough test rides of all machines before you decide.

Between the Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 and the Triumph Scrambler 400 X, which is better for daily rides and touring?
As an all-rounder, the Triumph Scrambler 400 X makes more sense because it has a commanding riding position, great suspension comfort, and lovely city manners. However, it feels a bit breathless on the highway beyond 100 kph, so if you don’t ride past that speed often, it’s a great option.
On the other hand, the Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 is a more engaging bike with better handling on twisty roads due to its wider tyres and 17-inch front wheel. It also feels more at home when doing fast highway speeds.
