In the petrol scooter space, our top recommendations will be the TVS Jupiter 110 / 125 and the Suzuki Access. These scooters have good seating and suspension comfort, are quite fuel efficient and will be easy to own and maintain as well.
The only two electric scooters which we'd recommend under the Rs 1 lakh mark are the new Bajaj Chetak C2501 and the TVS Orbiter. Do bear in mind that the Chetak is quite a small scooter, so if you're a taller person or ride two-up frequently, this could be something to watch out for.
The Orbiter is a nicely spacious machine, but it prioritises range over performance, so its acceleration is quite dull.

What should I consider - a Royal Enfield Meteor 350 or a TVS RTX 300 - for my daily commute of around 80 km, which includes both city and highway conditions?
The Royal Enfield Meteor 350 and the TVS Apache RTX 300 are two very different motorcycles. The Meteor is a relaxed cruiser, while the RTX is an adventure bike, a sporty streetfighter.
Objectively speaking, the RTX will be more comfortable and capable in just about every situation you'll find yourself in. However, it is quite a tall machine, so if you are a shorter rider, this could be something to look out for, especially at slower speeds in city traffic.
Instead of the Meteor, we'd actually recommend considering the Classic / Bullet 350 because they have a more comfortable and upright seating position, which will be more conducive to comfort over your long daily commute.

Hi Autocar India team, Iβm looking to buy a scooty and am confused between the Suzuki Access and Honda Activa Jupiter 125 now with iGO Assist. My main requirement is comfort - even with a pillion - for city commuting, as my current Activa 5G suspension feels poor on bad roads, rumble strips, and speed breakers. I prefer good initial acceleration rather than top speed since I donβt expect to cross 60-70 km/h on my commute route. I have test-ridden both scooties, but couldnβt figure out much in a short duration. I understand both are competent scooters, but which would suit my use case better? Is there any noticeable difference after the Jupiter 125 mild hybrid or iGO Assist upgrade in terms of economy or performance compared to before? Will it be an overall better scooter for me?
The TVS Jupiter 125 has a nifty winged preload adjuster for the rear suspension, which will allow you to quickly and easily set the preload when you're carrying two people, which is quite often for you. It also comes with 12-inch wheels at both ends, which endow it with better stability at higher speeds and will help round off bigger bumps better. TVS' iGO start/stop system will undoubtedly aid fuel economy, but its execution is a little lethargic in the real world, which can get frustrating in big city traffic.
Coming to the Suzuki Access, this too is a comfortable scooter. Its strengths lie in its creamy smooth engine that packs zippy performance and bulletproof reliability. Also, its spare parts are affordable and easily available. It will also be great to carry a pillion around in the city; however, in that regard, the Jupiter is slightly better.
Realistically, both scooters are great purchases and will serve you well in the long run. We'd recommend getting whichever one is more affordable for you and has a service centre close to you.
I own a Bajaj Pulsar 150 DTSi (2006). It has been perfectly maintained and is doing well, but I feel the need to upgrade to a bigger bike. Iβm looking for a bike for my daily commute to office (30 km) and fairly frequent long weekend rides. My budget is close to βΉ3.5 lakh. Kindly suggest options I should consider. P.S. - I have a tendency to ride relatively fast.
Since you are looking for a bike that is good for daily commuting as well as long rides, and are presently a Pulsar owner, a good upgrade option would be the Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z. The NS400Z is a sporty machine that isn't too aggressive and will also be usable on a day-to-day basis, while entertaining you on longer journeys. It also has an excellent price tag, which means you will come in well under your budget.
If you want to look elsewhere, options like the KTM 250 / 390 Duke, TVS Apache RTR 310 and Triumph Speed 400 are what we would recommend. The Speed 400 will be the best option inside city limits, but at high speeds, its engine feels a little strained. The Apache and Duke models are good all-rounders with genuine sporting intent and come with a host of techy and feel-good features.

Iβm a 25-year-old rider from Bangalore (6 ft, 95 kg) currently using a 2018 TVS Apache RTR 160 4V (non-ABS). After a few close calls, I want to upgrade to a comfortable supersport or naked bike. My budget is flexible up to βΉ10 lakh. Iβm open to superbikes if they look great, but spares availability, service practicality, ground clearance, and E20 compatibility are important for Indian roads. I have tested multiple bikes: TVS RR 310: Loved the package. Best posture, great suspension for potholes, features, and comfort. My only worry is the engine refinement stories Iβve heard. I'm also worried that TVS might phase it out, and I'd be left searching for parts. Aprilia RS 457: Found the posture torturous and honestly didnβt get the hype around it. Hurt my fingers when doing a full turn with the handle. KTM Adventure 390: Felt unsafe due to excessive vibrations. I also don't like how adventure bikes look. Too bulky for my tastes. I'm 25 - should be able to enjoy my life! Kawasaki Ninja 300: Felt very outdated, and the engine character didn't impress me. The Kawasaki dealership experience was also quite poor. Aprilia Tuono 457: Posture was okay, but the engine didn't feel special enough to justify the high purchase price and service costs. Looks didn't impress me one bit. Suzuki GSX-8R: Comfortable and fast, but 11 lakhs feels unjustified given the high maintenance concerns. I loved Rishaad's review on it (great reviewer and presenter - send him my love!), but I didn't really understand what's so special about it. I could barely use 20% of its power :) I mostly ride in the city with occasional highway trips. Since I know decent TVS service folks, after-sales for the RR 310 isn't an issue. My main questions are: How bad is the refinement on the RR 310 really? Have the recent updates fixed the vibration issues? Is the 310 platform being phased out anytime soon, or is it safe to buy now? Should I wait for the 450 RR? Given my requirement for a comfortable posture and E20 compatibility, is it worth waiting for an updated Yamaha R3 or another 2026 twin, or should I just go ahead with the RR 310? I'm looking to purchase something in the March-April timeframe, but happy to wait longer if there's anything better coming up :)
TVS has been giving the Apache RR 310 an update almost every year since it came out, improving small areas like refinement, features and adding more colours too. Today's Apache RR 310 is a feature-loaded machine which has significantly improved NVH levels, although it's still a single-cylinder machine. So, you will have to deal with some vibrations in certain bands of the rev range.
Since you seem to prefer a twin-cylinder sportbike experience over a single and have the budget to go for it, the Kawasaki Ninja 500 is a bike we'd recommend you seriously consider. It has reasonably comfortable ergonomics and decently compliant suspension for daily usage. Its 451cc, twin-cylinder engine has a healthy spread of mid-range grunt, and it will also be fun to chase the redline, given some open tarmac.
Yes, Kawasaki bikes are expensive to maintain, but that's something you will have to make peace with if you want a twin-cylinder sportbike today. You can also rest easy about E20 compatibility because all new bikes and scooters sold in India are compatible with our fuel.
If you don't think the Ninja 500 justifies its high price tag, then move up to the little more expensive but quite a bit more capable Ninja 650. It is one of the few big bikes on sale in India that can genuinely be used on a day-to-day basis. As long as you're mindful of the low ground clearance and expensive rims.
Coming to the TVS/BMW 450cc sportbike, an official launch is unlikely to happen anytime soon, considering we have only just spotted a heavily camouflaged test mule for the first time.

I am 35 years old, a swimmer with an athletic build, 6 feet tall, and weigh 70 kg. I live in Ahmedabad, a city with poor road conditions, heavy traffic, and unpredictable road behavior. Hard braking and quick manoeuvring are often necessary due to potholes, slippery roads, and sudden pedestrian or vehicle movements. I tried the Pulsar NS125, but with a heavy pillion rider (90 kg+), I found it difficult to manoeuvre in tight traffic. The bike felt heavy, braking was harder to manage, and I experienced back pain after riding with a heavy pillion. Under the same conditions, I do not face any back pain when riding the Honda Twister with a similar pillion. Please suggest a new or used bike within a budget of βΉ1.8 lakh that is suitable for city use, has a sporty look, offers comfortable seating, and is easy to manoeuvre without causing back pain, even with a pillion rider. Should I wait for the Kawasaki Ninja 125 launch? I am also considering a used Kawasaki Ninja 300 for the next two yearsβwill it be comfortable for city riding, and will its seating position help avoid back pain while handling traffic with a heavy pillion rider?
Within your budget, you will get very old examples of the Kawasaki Ninja 300, which will likely not be in good shape after all these years. We'd recommend you go for a new bike for the peace of mind that comes with it and the warranty coverage that comes with it.
Since you have mentioned you want something sporty, we'd recommend the Bajaj Pulsar NS200 and the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V. Both have energetic engines, good handling and will also be comfortable for day-to-day use with their upright ergonomics.
Both are also reasonably comfortable bikes to carry pillion with, although larger people will be pressed for space.
A test ride of these two should help you decide which is best for you.
I am planning to buy either tvs rr310 or ninja 300. Took a test drive of ninja 300 and was more than satisfied. I'm 5'6" and it felt very comfortable sitting and driving on test ride. Tvs didn't offer test drive of rr310. What should i do? Go for ninja 300? What would be real world mileage of each of these in the city? My daily drive is around 12-15 kms. Also what would be the estimated AMC every year? Kawasaki is offering 50k discount on 2024 model. Should I buy that or 2026 model? I read online that 2024 model is not e20 compliant. Really confused.
The Kawasaki Ninja 300 is a thoroughly dated machine in all respects, but it has some unique strengths in today's market. If you like the baby Ninja, then it still makes sense to go for it, although we'd recommend paying full price and going for the latest model. Because the older ones won't be E20 compatible. Real-world fuel economy is subjective and depends on a multitude of factors. So we can't tell you what you should expect; for reference, you may check out our fuel efficiency numbers from when we road tested the Ninja 300.
Coming to the TVS Apache RR 310, this is a more modern and feature-rich machine and will also be cheaper to buy and maintain in the long run. However, purchasing it without taking a test ride is an avoidable risk, and we'd recommend you try to get a test ride from TVS once more before you make a decision.

Based on your needs, we'd recommend taking a look at the Honda Unicorn, Bajaj Pulsar N160 single-seat variants and TVS Apache RTR 160 4V. All bikes are well-finished, comfortable and smooth, so you should choose the one you find easiest to manage.
The service experience is also an area where you should pay extra attention to. Therefore, in that regard, most people have reported Honda's service to be quicker and friction-free compared to Bajaj and TVS.
We'd recommend a test ride of all three. Also, discuss the service intervals and cost to ascertain which would be the best fit for you.
