In addition to its body-on-frame construction, the Thar Roxx's massive wheels and huge ground clearance give it an advantage over monocoque SUVs. It should be noted that the Mahindra SUV can be had with a four-wheel drive system only with the 2.2-litre diesel engine, which can be mated to either a manual or a torque converter automatic gearbox. Developing 150hp, 330Nm with the MT and 172hp, 370Nm with the AT, the diesel engine has a broad torque spread and pulls cleanly from low revs to its redline. It has enough grunt for off-roading duties as well as effortless highway cruising.
