
Mahindra Thar Roxx is a very capable off-roader with lots of off-roading tech and a strong diesel engine.

The Thar Roxx is underpinned by a new 4G body-on-frame chassis.

New suspension mounting points and the rear dampers ensure good ride and body control.

Over the 3 door Thar, Roxx's body has been strengthened and stiffened for better safety.

Only the 2.2-litre diesel engine, which makes 150hp (with MT) and 172hp (with AT), comes with a 4WD system.

There's no shortage of power, and the diesel's pulling power from low-end makes it a better option than the petrol.

It also gets a multi-link suspension system with a Watt's linkage, which helps in controlling body roll.

The massive wheels and huge ground clearance let the Roxx glide over off-road tracks with ease.

The Mahindra Thar Roxx is one of the most capable off-roaders out there. In fact, our Thar Roxx review noted that the SUV can trample any road without a worry. In addition to its body-on-frame construction, the Thar Roxx's massive wheels and huge ground clearance give it an advantage over monocoque SUVs. It should be noted that the Mahindra SUV can be had with a four-wheel drive system only with the 2.2-litre diesel engine, which can be mated to either a manual or a torque converter automatic gearbox. Developing 150hp, 330Nm with the MT and 172hp, 370Nm with the AT, the diesel engine has a broad torque spread and pulls cleanly from low revs to its redline. It has enough grunt for off-roading duties as well as effortless highway cruising.
