Tata Nexon price, variants, features, engine and geabox options explained

While the Tata Nexon was given a comprehensive mid-lifecycle refresh in September 2023, the Indian brand has continued to update its Hyundai Venue rival since then, bringing an ADAS suite, a new powertrain option, more features and a rejigged variant line-up. The Nexon is available with petrol, CNG and diesel engines and comes in four trim levels – Smart, Pure, Creative and Fearless. Select trims get ‘+’, ‘S’ or ‘PS’ variants that pack more features. Including all powertrains and variants, there are a total of 39 versions of the Nexon on sale. So, without digressing further, here’s a breakdown of the features, safety kit and powertrain options available with each variant.

A total of 7 engine and gearbox combinations to choose from

The Nexon is available with the widest range of engine and gearbox options in the compact SUV segment. The 120hp 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine comes with a 5-speed manual gearbox in the entry-level Smart variants, while the Pure, Creative and Fearless variants get a 6-speed manual. The turbo-petrol engine also comes with a 6-speed AMT option in select Smart, Pure and Creative variants, while there is a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic option on select Creative variants and the top-spec Fearless.

The diesel engine option – a 115hp 1.5-litre unit – has a 6-speed manual as standard, with a 6-speed AMT option available on select Pure, Creative and Fearless variants. Finally, the Nexon CNG, launched in September last year, comes with a 1.2-litre turbocharged unit that makes 100hp when running on compressed natural gas and a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard.

2025 Tata Nexon colours explained

9 monotone and 7 dual-tone exterior colour options available, including the Dark and Red Dark variants

The Nexon is available in a total of 16 exterior colour options – nine monotone and seven dual-tone – and this number includes the all-black Dark and the red Dark variants. The entry-level Nexon Smart trim only gets five monotone options – Pristine White, Daytona Grey, Grassland Beige, Royal Blue and Flame Red – while the Pure trim gets an additional Pure Grey option. The Nexon Creative trims have Ocean Blue and Dark options on offer, along with dual-tone options for all colours except for the Pristine White. The top-spec Nexon Fearless has all 16 colour options to choose from.

Those looking to buy the Nexon on a strict budget should look at the Smart + trim, as it gets all the essential features and safety kit and is priced well below Rs 10 lakh. Those who would prefer loads of creature comforts and can expand their budget should take a look at the Creative + PS. Opt for the new top-spec Nexon Fearless + A PS only if an ADAS suite is necessary for you.
