Building upon its commitment to introduce the best environment-friendly technologies in the Indian market, the country’s leading premium car manufacturer Honda Cars India recently launched the BS6-compliant version of the Amaze in both petrol and diesel form. The Honda Amaze BS6 is attractively priced from Rs 6.10 lakh for the base petrol variant and goes up to Rs 9.96 lakh for the fully loaded diesel model.

With this introduction, the Amaze – which has been one of the most popular family sedans in the country, with over 3.9 lakh owners in India – is the model that debuts Honda’s BS6-compliant diesel engine. The diesel promises to offer a powerful performance, combined with superior fuel efficiency.

The diesel engine in the Amaze is a 1.5-litre i-DTEC unit, paired with either a manual or a CVT gearbox. The engine is more eco-friendly, thanks to Honda’s advanced exhaust gas after-treatment system which uses an NSC (NOx Storage Catalyst) and a DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) to meet the challenging target of particulate matter (PM) and nitrogen oxide (NOx) emission. Moreover, Honda's original Silver Thin Coated DPF (STC-DPF) enables reduction of PM combustion time by 40 percent, compared to the conventional DPF.

The diesel manual is good for 100hp and 200Nm of torque while the CVT version puts out 80hp and 160Nm of torque. It offers an ARAI-rated fuel efficiency of 24.7kpl (manual) and 21.0kpl (CVT).

Meanwhile, the petrol version is powered by Honda’s BS6-compliant 1.2-litre i-VTEC, also mated to either a manual or a CVT gearbox. The unit puts out a healthy 90hp and 110Nm of torque, while the fuel efficiency is rated at 18.6kpl for the manual and 18.3kpl for the CVT.

Apart from the improved diesel and petrol engine technology, the Amaze continues to offer a feature-rich package to the customer, which combines an aggressive design with attractive features and safety technologies to uplift the customer’s experience. The model is built on an all-new platform and has a fresh design from the ground up, with a sharp focus on space, practicality and a feeling of premiumness. A few styling highlights include an aggressive front with a chunky chrome grille, a sculpted bonnet and ‘C’-shaped tail-lamps, that all combine to leave a strong first impression.

The premium feel carries on to the inside too, with a driver-focused cabin layout that includes a beige-black dashboard with an attractive piano-black finish, a Multi-Information Display (MID) and a 7.0-inch touchscreen with navigation, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay. Features such as a multi-function steering wheel with Paddle Shift, Handsfree and Cruise Control further accentuate the comfortable driving experience.

Customers will be interested to know that the Amaze also offers top-notch back-seat comfort with impressive levels of cushioning and support along with lots of legroom and ample shoulder room. A cushioned arm rest and a relaxed seating posture are designed to make every ride comfortable. There are also plenty of storage areas spread across the cabin.

What’s more, the Amaze is easy and hassle-free to own and maintain with a 3-year/unlimited kilometre warranty offered as standard.

The Amaze has been designed specifically keeping Indian customers' evolving aspirations in mind; and it is, in fact, Honda’s largest-selling model in India, at present. The addition of the environment-friendly BS6-compliant engines to the second-generation Amaze, along with its spacious interiors, smooth performance and advanced features, make it a family sedan you simply cannot miss.
