2022 was a busy calendar year with multiple important launches. The SUV segment saw the most action, with the launch of the much anticipated Scorpio N, and Toyota's and Maruti Suzuki's respective midsize SUVs, the Urban Cruiser Hyryder and Grand Vitara. The premium hatchback space, too, saw fresh arrivals like the new Baleno and Glanza. Multiple launches in the same segment meant we did quite a few comparisons, so here's a look at the most popular ones.

    5. Scorpio N vs Scorpio Classic

After the launch of the Scorpio N, Mahindra updated the original Scorpio and gave it the ‘Classic’ moniker. The Classic is available only in two variants and prices overlap with lower variants of the Scorpio N. To find out if the Scorpio Classic can still find buyers with the launch of the Scorpio N, we made them go head to head. To find out how they fared, click here for the detailed comparison.

    4. Glanza vs Baleno vs i20 vs Altroz

The premium hatchback segment currently consists of only four models – the GlanzaBaleno, i20 and the Altroz. We compared the petrol-auto variants of these hatchbacks, and while they were tested on all parameters, we focussed particularly on convenience, comfort, value, features and feel good factor. To find out which was our favourite premium hatchback, you can read our comparison here.

    3. Grand Vitara vs Creta vs Seltos

EVs are expensive and the popularity of diesels is waning. So, are hybrids the answer for saving fuel? To answer this question, we pitted the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara Hybrid against the Hyundai Creta petrol and the Kia Seltos diesel. We gave a detailed breakdown of the numbers to find out which powertrain makes the most financial sense. Additionally, we also reviewed the SUVs in our usual parameters, telling you how they fared in areas like performance, comfort, ride and handling. 2. Slavia vs City

The rise of SUVs is eating into the popularity of sedans, and yet, the City continues to enjoy a considerable fan following. The fifth-generation model went on sale in India in 2020, and two years later, it found a worthy match in the form of the Skoda Slavia. Launched as a replacement to the Rapid, the Slavia is the second product from Skoda under its ‘India 2.0’ strategy.

For the comparison, we considered the petrol-automatic variants of the two sedans. To find out if the Slavia bested the City, read our comparo here

    1. Astor vs Creta vs Seltos vs Kushaq vs Taigun vs Kicks

Our biggest comparison this year was also our most popular one, garnering over 50,000 views. We compared MG’s newest midsize SUV with other popular ones to find out if the new entrant has what it takes to make the cut in this highly competitive segment. Diesel, once a popular choice with SUVs, has lost its popularity, and out of the six, only two models offer the option of a diesel engine. For the test, we considered the most powerful turbo-petrol variants paired to automatic gearboxes. To know more about our winner, you can read our comparison here
