After a MY25 refresh, Tata has introduced a more comprehensively updated Tiago hatchback. While it gets a revised exterior design, an all-new dashboard and some additional features, it has the same powertrains as the older model. The 2026 Tata Tiago’s prices range from Rs 4.69 lakh to Rs 8.55 lakh, and here’s how it compares against the Grand i10 Nios, Maruti Swift and Citroen C3.

In terms of length, the 2026 Tiago is smaller than the Grand i10 Nios, Swift and C3 by 2mm, 47mm and 168mm, respectively. With a width of 1,684mm, the Tiago is 4mm wider than the Grand i10 Nios, but narrower by 51mm and 49mm than the Swift and C3, respectively. While the Tiago is slightly taller than the Grand i10 Nios and Swift, the Citroen C3 is the tallest. Its ground clearance is also a little higher than that of the Grand i10 Nios and Swift, but it sits 10mm lower than the C3.

Coming to the wheelbase, the Tiago has the smallest in the segment – 50mm less than the Grand i10 Nios and Swift, and 140mm less than the C3. The Tiago also has the least boot space. Though boot space for the CNG versions of these hatchbacks has not been revealed, the Tiago and Grand i10 Nios are offered with twin CNG cylinders, a setup that takes less usable space than the one in the Swift CNG.

Starting with the naturally aspirated (NA) petrol offerings, the Tiago is the most powerful. It produces 3hp more than the only car here to get a 4-cylinder unit, the Grand i10 Nios, and 4hp more than the Swift and C3. All these NA options have similar torque figures, ranging from 112Nm to 115Nm.

It’s the same story with CNG versions, with the Tiago being 7hp and 6hp more powerful than the Grand i10 Nios and Swift. Notably, the Tiago is the only CNG model available with an AMT, that too with paddleshifters. The CNG variants of the Grand i10 Nios and Swift come with a manual gearbox.

The C3 does not offer a CNG powertrain, but it is the only one with a turbo-petrol engine, which is, unsurprisingly, the most powerful of the lot.

Good move; it cuts dependence on crude oil imports
I support it as it’s a greener solution than pure petrol
I’ll accept it only if it’s cheaper than E20 petrol
I am concerned about damage to my vehicle
