The MG Comet is built on a born-electric platform with no room set aside for an engine, which is why it feels so spacious for its size. As per us, its small motor is perfectly adequate for the city. It gets to 60kph without breaking a sweat but feels slow after that.

Key facts for the Comet:

A 42hp, 110Nm electric motor drives the rear wheels through a single-speed automatic.
The LFP battery sits under the front seats and is rated at 17.3kWh, or 17.4kWh on the FC versions.
In our tests, it did 0-60kph in 7.6 seconds and 0-100kph in 23.87 seconds in Sport mode. Top speed is 101kph, or 81kph in Eco mode.
It is 2,974mm long, 1,505mm wide and 1,640mm tall, with a 2,010mm wheelbase and a 4.2m turning radius. It weighs just 817kg.
It rides on 12-inch steel wheels with 145/70 R12 tyres. There is no spare wheel, only a tyre inflator kit.

Since your intended usage will be in Kolkata traffic, we don't recommend a diesel engine, like you have in your other two cars. Depending on your budget, you could consider a petrol car or even an EV. Among petrol cars, you could get a Maruti Swift under Rs 10 lakh, which is easygoing and efficient. And if you're after an EV, consider the MG Comet EV if you don't need a lot of space - its compact footprint makes it ideal for traffic. An EV will always have lower running costs and a smoother drive than a petrol car, which is helpful in traffic.
