Maruti Suzuki Fronx FAQs

The Maruti Fronx’s starting price of ₹6.85 lakh makes it more affordable than popular models like the Venue, Sonet, Syros, Kylaq, Nexon, and Brezza. Its top-end price of ₹11.84 lakh is also more affordable than all the aforementioned models.

In terms of pricing, Maruti has positioned the Fronx between the Baleno hatchback and the Brezza SUV, and considering its positives, it is a value-for-money offering. Its turbo-petrol engine, however, is on the pricier side, but considering the performance, it still offers a lot of value.

I want to buy my first car for casual and office use within a budget of Rs. 11 lakh. My monthly commute will be around 300-400 km. Mileage and low maintenance costs are my top priorities. I also want good reliability and resale value, as I plan to keep the car for at least 10 years. I prefer a naturally aspirated (NA) engine over a turbo engine, and I am open to MT/AMT options based on service costs and mileage. I am very confused between the Dzire, Swift, Amaze, Fronx, and the new Brezza. I need guidance on which one would be the best choice.

Go for the Maruti Suzuki Dzire petrol manual. It is the most sensible choice for your requirements. Your monthly running is low, so a naturally aspirated petrol engine is the right choice, and the Dzire’s 1.2-litre engine is proven to be reliable, efficient and easy to maintain. The manual gearbox is simple, robust and will keep running costs low over a long ownership period. This Maruti Suzuki car is also one of the most reliable cars in the segment, with excellent service reach and strong resale value, which is important given your 10-year ownership plan. It is comfortable for daily office commutes, easy to drive in the city, and has enough space for occasional family use. The Maruti Suzuki Swift is a good alternative if you prefer a hatchback, but the Dzire offers a more practical boot and a slightly more comfortable rear seat. The Honda Amaze is also a strong contender with a reliable naturally aspirated engine, but Maruti’s wider service network and lower maintenance costs give the Dzire the edge. The Maruti Suzuki Fronx and Maruti Suzuki Brezza are good cars, but as turbo petrols they are not the best fit for your priorities of low maintenance and long-term ownership. The Dzire is the car that will give you the least hassle and the most peace of mind over 10 years.

I’m planning to buy a new car for casual use with a budget of under Rs. 11 lakh. It will primarily be used for city driving, including daily office commutes and occasional weekend trips, with an expected monthly running of around 300 to 400km. My priorities are reliability, low maintenance costs, good fuel efficiency, and a car that is hassle-free to own over the long term. I’m currently confused between the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Swift, Honda Amaze, New Brezza, and Fronx. I don’t specifically need a turbo-petrol engine, although I’m open to considering one if it offers good features. I would prefer a manual gearbox, but I’m also willing to consider an automatic or AMT if it delivers good mileage in city driving. The Dzire has caught my attention, but I’m slightly hesitant because of its three-cylinder engine. Please clear my confusion.

For your usage, the Maruti Suzuki Dzire is actually the most sensible choice. Your running is low, your usage is mostly city with occasional weekend trips, and you want reliability, low maintenance and fuel efficiency. The Dzire is built exactly for this brief. The 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine is smooth enough in everyday use, and the car is light, easy to drive and very efficient in the city. Concerns about the three-cylinder engine are largely overstated. Modern 3-cylinder engines are well balanced and refined at city speeds, and the Dzire is tuned for efficiency and reliability rather than outright performance. In our real-world testing, the Dzire has managed 14.5kpl in the city and 20kpl on the highway. The Maruti Suzuki Swift is essentially the same mechanical package in a hatchback body, so the decision there is simply whether a hatchback or a sedan better suits your needs. The Honda Amaze is a good alternative if you specifically want an automatic. It gets a CVT, which is much smoother compared to the AMT on Dzire, but it's not as fuel efficient. In our standard test cycle, the CVT Amaze mileage is 9.94kpl in the city cycle and 16.62kpl on the highway loop. The Maruti Suzuki Brezza and Fronx are both good cars, but they will not be as efficient in the city as the Dzire.Go for the Dzire manual and do not worry about the 3-cylinder engine – it is a well-proven, efficient and reliable package.

I have finalised the Skoda Kylaq, Maruti Suzuki Fronx, and Toyota Taisor. Which one is better?

Verified

Go for the Skoda Kylaq. It is the most complete car of the three, offering a more premium cabin, better driving dynamics and a more substantial feel overall. The Kylaq's turbo petrol engine is punchy and refined, and the car feels more planted and confidence-inspiring on the highway. Overall, the Kylaq is the better car, and if you like to drive, this is the one we'd recommend. The Fronx and Taisor are good value propositions with strong reliability and low running costs, backed by their Maruti and Toyota respectively, which have a more extensive support network compared to Skoda.

Hi Team, Please help me choose the right car. I am planning to buy a car with a budget of around Rs. 11-12.5 lakh (on-road price in Delhi NCR). I need an automatic car, and my monthly running will be approximately 600 km, mainly in city traffic, especially on the Delhi-Gurgaon peak traffic stretch. I prefer to keep my cars for a longer period and will be upgrading from a Hyundai i20 manual. Based on my requirements, please suggest the best option among the following: Maruti Suzuki Brezza VXi AT - Rs. 11.9 lakh on-road Kia Sonet DCT HTK(O) - Rs. 11.2 lakh Maruti Suzuki Fronx Delta Plus AMT - Rs. 9.6 lakh Skoda Kylaq Signature Automatic - Rs. 11.2 lakh I am unable to decide which one would be the most suitable choice for my needs. Kindly suggest the best option.

Go for the Skoda Kylaq Signature Automatic. It is the best fit for your usage and available under Rs. 12 lakh, which fits your budget. Your running is low, so petrol is the right choice, and the Kylaq’s 1.0 TSI engine paired with the 6-speed torque converter automatic is a proven and reliable combination that works well in Delhi-Gurgaon traffic. This Skoda car is also one of the most fun-to-drive cars in this price range, with strong performance and good highway manners, which makes it a meaningful upgrade from your Hyundai i20. The Maruti Suzuki Brezza VXI AT is a solid alternative if you want a more relaxed ownership experience and Maruti’s service reach, but the Kylaq is the more engaging car to drive. The Kia Sonet DCT is not the right choice for your usage because the DCT gearbox is not ideal for heavy stop-and-go traffic. The Maruti Suzuki Fronx Delta Plus AMT is the most affordable option, but the AMT gearbox is not as smooth as the Kylaq’s torque converter, and the car itself does not feel like a meaningful upgrade from your Hyundai car.The Kylaq strikes the best balance between driving experience, reliability and value for money.

I have a 2017 Hyundai Xcent and want to upgrade to a car with better fuel efficiency. My budget is Rs. 11 lakh. Should I go with the Maruti Suzuki Fronx?

Verified
1w

Yes, the Maruti Suzuki Fronx is a sensible upgrade from your 2017 Xcent, especially if fuel efficiency is a priority. The Fronx is available with two petrol engine options: a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol and a 1.0-litre turbo petrol. The 1.2-litre engine is the better choice for your needs – it is smooth, reliable and delivers good real-world fuel efficiency, making it a strong upgrade over the Xcent. This Maruti Suzuki car also offers a higher seating position, better ground clearance and a more modern feature set, which will make it feel like a meaningful step up from your current car. The 1.0-litre turbo petrol is more performance-oriented and not the best fit if mileage is your main concern. Overall, the Fronx 1.2 petrol is a well-rounded, efficient and easy-to-own upgrade within your budget.
