Jeep Meridian specifications
Every Jeep Meridian on sale shares one engine, a 1956cc turbo-diesel rated at 170hp at 3750rpm and 350Nm between 1750 and 2500rpm. That single engine decides how the rest of the range branches out. You first pick between a 6-speed manual and a 9-speed automatic. Only within the automatic line does a further choice open up, a 4x4 drivetrain with a lockable differential on the top trims. Every variant below that runs front-wheel drive.
At 4769mm long, 1859mm wide and 1698mm tall on a 2782mm wheelbase, the Meridian sits in the full-size SUV bracket. Seating starts at five in the base model, and moving up the range adds a third row for seven. Boot space runs from 170 litres with all rows in use to 825 litres once the third row is folded flat. A 60-litre fuel tank is the same from the base variant to the top variant.
Standard safety kit across the Meridian range in 2026 covers six airbags and stability control. The top variant adds adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, which lower trims do without. Keeping the driver aids at the top of the range still gives full-size SUV shoppers a real point of comparison. Rivals usually reserve such systems for far costlier variants.

Questions you may find useful
I have been using my Jeep Compass Limited manual edition for the last 7 years. My daily usage is 50 km a day in the city and occasional highway journeys. I want a robust SUV with an automatic diesel engine and advanced safety features. My budget is between 25-45 lakhs. Please advise.
Check out the MG Gloster. The large 7-seater feels like a considerable step up from your Jeep Compass (or indeed its larger sibling, the Meridian) and comes with a smooth yet strong diesel engine and a smooth 8-speed automatic gearbox. And though it is large, its light controls make it manoeuvrable enough in the city. This MG car also comes with a long list of features, which includes safety features like an ADAS suite, but that's in the higher variants, so you might have to increase your budget slightly for that.
I want to buy a new car for daily drive ( ~20km) & once or twice a year long drive (~1000km). Looking within a budget of 30-40lacs max - a bit of luxury wanted as I'm in my mid-40s & from the medical profession.
Within your budget, check out the Jeep Meridian. It's available in 5 or 7-seat guises and comes with a strong but smooth 2.0-litre diesel engine and a slick 9-speed automatic gearbox. This Jeep car is well-equipped, easy to drive in the city and great on the highway, in terms of comfort and stability. Most of all, however, Jeep is a premium brand, and the Meridian's interiors feel luxurious, plush and well worth the price tag.
I want a 7-seater SUV with maximum ground clearance, rear-wheel drive (or AWD), a diesel engine, and an automatic transmission. Good mileage is important. My budget is ₹30-35 lakh (can stretch slightly). I live in Kashmir, so the car must handle occasional snow. Please suggest suitable models.
For your requirements and budget, the best option is the Jeep Meridian. It's got good ground clearance, a decently frugal diesel engine, a smooth automatic gearbox and AWD. It also has a very luxurious interior, a strong equipment list and the premium Jeep badge and its associated off-road pedigree. Bear in mind, however, that the third row of seats is not very spacious, but good enough for occasional use. Alternatively, you could move down a step to the Mahindra Scorpio-N, but its third row is also very cramped. And finally, you could move up to a Toyota Fortuner, which has a spacious third row, but its price is well past the Rs 40 lakh mark for the diesel automatic variants.
