The new Honda Elevate is priced between Rs 11.80 lakh and Rs 18.40 lakh (ex-showroom). It is offered in five variants – SV, V, VX, ZX and the new ZX+ – along with a ZX+ Black edition.
I’m looking for a car mainly for my parents. It will be driven by both me and a driver. I’m deciding between the Honda Elevate V CVT (Rs 16.5 lakh) and the Renault Duster 1.3 Turbo DCT Evolution (Rs 17.5 lakh). I’ve ruled out the VW-Skoda twins (Taigun and Kushaq) because their rear seat backrest angle isn’t comfortable at all. I enjoy driving enthusiastically, but I’m also giving some importance to rear-seat comfort (if the difference is marginal, it can be ignored). Please help me choose, or suggest any other car that suits this category. My maximum on-road budget is Rs 18 lakh.
Go for the Honda Elevate V CVT. Since the car will primarily be used by your parents and rear seat comfort matters, the Elevate makes more sense. It offers generous legroom and headroom and is comfortable for two adults in the back. The Duster has a stronger turbo petrol engine and a more engaging performance character, but rear seat space is one of its weaker areas. The Elevate’s naturally aspirated engine and CVT won’t be as exciting when driven enthusiastically, but its predictable handling and smooth gearbox make it easy to live with.
I am planning to buy a new car and am considering the Honda Elevate VX manual. The colour I want may be available in a month or two. In the meantime, I am wondering whether I should consider the diesel Kia Seltos HTE (O) instead. I don't commute daily and mainly use my car on weekends, sometimes with my family, for city drives and occasional picnics. However, given the rising fuel costs, I'm considering the Kia diesel. What would you suggest?
Given your limited driving, a diesel car does not make financial sense. Since you primarily use your car at weekends for family outings, city drives and occasional highway trips, the additional upfront cost of a diesel is unlikely to be offset by fuel savings. If you prefer the Kia Seltos, we would recommend the naturally aspirated petrol version instead. It is smooth and easy to drive in the city and has enough performance for occasional highway runs, while saving you a healthy amount upfront compared to the diesel. The Honda Elevate VX MT is an excellent alternative too, with its spacious cabin, comfortable ride and straightforward petrol powertrain. Our recommendation would be to choose between the Elevate and the Seltos petrol based on your preferences for driving experience, features and comfort, rather than buying a diesel purely to save on fuel costs.
Hi team, hope you're doing well! We are planning to buy our very first car and would appreciate your advice before making a final decision. Based on our requirements, we have shortlisted three options: the Honda Elevate facelift, Kia Seltos 1.5 NA petrol (new generation) and Renault Duster 1.3 TCe 160 (new generation). We prefer a naturally aspirated petrol engine with a manual transmission, as we are looking for low maintenance, reliability and smooth everyday drivability. Safety is our top priority, including robust build quality, active and passive safety features, and stable highway manners. We also want a family-friendly car with a spacious cabin, comfortable rear seats and a good-sized boot. Our usage will be relatively low, with city driving once or twice a week and a highway road trip once every couple of months. As first-time car buyers, we also value ease of driving, predictable ownership costs and hassle-free after-sales service. The variants we are currently considering are the Honda Elevate ZX Plus MT Black Edition, Kia Seltos HTX (A) and Renault Duster Iconic. Given these priorities, which car would you recommend? Are there any specific pros and cons or long-term ownership factors we should keep in mind? We would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks for your help!
Both are similarly priced, so it comes down to what you want from your car. However, the Kia Seltos is feels more sophisticated and modern than the Honda Elevate. It feels premium inside and out, and its 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine is more refined. The ride is comfortable, and better noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) insulation makes the cabin quieter, particularly on the highway. The Honda Elevate remains a sensible choice if you prefer a simpler, more functional SUV, but the Seltos feels like the more upmarket product. Given your low usage and preference for comfort, we would lean towards the Seltos HTX (A).
Hello, I've been looking to buy a new automatic petrol car with either a TC or a CVT transmission for a family of three. Our usage will mainly involve daily city driving in Bengaluru, with occasional highway trips of 100-500 km. So far, we have tested the Skoda Slavia 1.0 TC, Kylaq and Kushaq, Volkswagen Virtus 1.0 TC, Honda Elevate facelift (2026), Kia Sonet, Tata Punch AMT, Tata Sierra DCT and TC automatic options, and Punch EV. My wife is a beginner driver who currently drives a manual turbo sedan and a hatchback, so the car should also be suitable for her daily driving needs. Personally, I loved the Slavia for its punchy performance, handling, ride quality, softer suspension in the city and safety. However, I'm concerned about EPC errors and reliability issues. Since I already drive a turbo car, I enjoy the strong performance on highways, particularly the quick overtakes and punch. My wife, on the other hand, prefers sedate driving, although neither of us is particularly enthusiastic about driving. She preferred the Honda Elevate CVT over the Sonet. We're quite confused about which automatic to choose from these options. Please help us decide.
Based on your preferences, we'd advise you to narrow down your choice between the Honda Elevate 1.5 CVT and Skoda Slavia 1.0 TSI AT. The Honda Elevate will be a bit easier to drive for your wife, who is a new driver, given its higher seating position and more responsive naturally aspirated petrol engine without any turbo lag. Its CVT (automatic) is seamless, and its engine delivers strong performance to keep you entertained. Overall, the Elevate is a comfortable, practical, no-nonsense SUV with excellent ride comfort. Given Honda's reputation for reliability, you can look forward to a trouble-free ownership experience. The Skoda Slavia, being a sedan, will feel a bit nicer to drive given its low centre of gravity and relatively less body roll. The 1.0 TSI will also feel more effortless while making quick overtakes on the highway. Its 179mm ground clearance and large boot make it a very practical car for long family drives. In the initial year/s of its launch, some owners reported EPC errors, possibly due to poor fuel quality. However, the Slavia has been on the market for over four years now, and complaints of the same issue are extremely rare, indicating that it may have been resolved. If you loved the Slavia for what it offers, go for it. It'll leave you smiling every time you get behind the wheel.
I am looking for an automatic five-seater car under Rs 18 lakh and am confused between the Honda Elevate and Hyundai Creta. Which would be more comfortable for highway travel? My annual running will be below 12,000km.
The Hyundai Creta IVT would be our pick for comfortable highway travel. Its 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine is refined, and better sound insulation keeps the cabin quieter at cruising speeds. The flat, wide rear seat also makes it a good choice if you occasionally travel with three people at the back. With annual running below 12,000km, the petrol automatic makes sense. The Honda Elevate CVT is worth considering because you can get a higher variant for similar money, with more features for your budget. Honda has worked on improving the sound insulation with the 2026 facelift, but the Elevate still doesn't feel as refined as the Creta when it comes to engine noise and overall cabin quietness.
