BMW India has announced that during the first 9 months of 2024, the German brand has sold over 10,000 cars and SUVs in the country. The Mini brand has posted sales of 500 units in the same period, while BMW Motorrad has delivered 5,638 two-wheelers. With combined sales of 10,556 units – which is an all-time high for the company – the BMW Group’s car brands (BWW and Mini) have posted a 10 percent increase in sales compared to the January to September 2023 period.

  1. BMW India sold 3,322 units in the third quarter of 2024
  2. Over 300 BMW 5 Series LWBs sold in a little over 2 months
  3. BMW sold 328 EVs in the July-September 2024 period

BMW’s entry level X1 SUV and the 3 Series sedan were the largest contributors to the 10,056 units sold in the 9 month period; the company sold 3,322 units between July-September 2024. The SUV and sedan’s share to BMW’s total sales in the January-September 2024 period were 20 percent and 19 percent, respectively.

Other models that have helped BMW India achieve record sales numbers are the LWB luxury sedans, the 5 Series and 7 Series. BMW says that it has already delivered over 300 units of the 5 Series LWB to customers since its launch on July 24, and that it still has 600 pending deliveries, indicating strong demand for the sedan.

During the first 9 months of the year, BMW and Mini sold 725 all-electric vehicles from its 6 EV strong portfolio, which means that in the last 3 months, the two companies had combined EV sales of 328 units. The i7 sedan continued to be the brand’s best-selling EV, and was among the ‘Luxury Class’ – that also includes the X7, 7 Series and XM – that contributed 17 percent to BMW’s sales. Interestingly, BMW’s SUV line-up contributed 55 percent to the brand’s sales, while sedans, coupes and convertibles accounted for the other 45 percent.
