Ashesh Dhar, head – sales, marketing & customer care at Tata Motors’ EV division, passed away in Mumbai on July 24, due to a cardiac arrest.

In the recent past, he was instrumental in Tata seeing a ‘better than expected’ market response for the Nexon EV – the carmaker’s first EV for personal use. He is remembered as a “humble and polite” colleague.

Dhar, holder of a mechanical engineering degree from BITS Pilani, started his career as a graduate engineer trainee at Bajaj Auto, 21 years ago. He was also a member of the Bajaj’s three-wheeler business, according to his profile on LinkedIn.  After Bajaj Auto, he had stints in TVS Motor and Mahindra First Choice, before joining Tata Motors in August 2011 as the head of Tata Motors Assured, the vehicle exchange and pre-owned cars business of Tata Motors.

Autocar India extends its heartfelt condolences to Ashesh Dhar's family, friends and colleagues.
