A new teaser image from Tata Motors shows the silhouette of the five new models that will be brought to the 2018 Auto Expo. The image comes after the release of a video invite which showed three models under wraps. According to a tweet put out by Tata, additional information for each of the new models will be revealed before the end of the month.

We had reported earlier that the Indian carmaker is expected to bring its new Baleno and i20 rival, codenamed X451, and its five- and seven-seat rival to the Creta and Compass, codenamed H5, to the Auto Expo. Along with these two near-production models, the teaser reveals that a new sedan and two commercial vehicles will also be the focus of Tata’s stall at the expo. In addition to the vehicles, the carmaker is also expected to showcase its capabilities and mobility solutions aimed at smart cities.

While many manufacturers are staying away from the expo, Tata seems to be pulling out all the stops to maximise its participation. Here’s what you can expect to see at Tata Motor’s pavilion:

Tata X451 (more info on January 19)

Based on Tata Motors’ new Advanced Modular Platform (AMP), the X451 will slot in above the Tiago in the carmaker’s line-up. Tata’s new design language, called Impact Design 2.0, will be seen on the model, and it will get uprated versions of the Tiago’s 1.2-litre petrol engine and 1.05-litre diesel motor. The Nexon’s 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine may also be introduced at a later date. Expect a launch date sometime in 2019.

Tata H5 (more info on January 21)

Underpinned by the Land Rover Discovery Sport’s L550 platform, the production-spec H5 will be available as a five- and seven-seater. Powered by FCA’s 2.0-litre, four-cylinder MultiJet II diesel engine, the five-seater will get the 140hp version, while the seven-seater will get it in a 170hp tune. Expect the pricing to undercut that of the Jeep Compass and the Hyundai Creta.

Commercial vehicles (more info on January 20 and 22)

The teaser doesn't reveal much information about the two commercial vehicles that are expected to be seen at the event. One of them, however, is expected to be a people carrier while the other is expected to be a goods carrier.

Mobility solutions

Tata’s display at the Auto Expo will include 26 smart mobility solutions across its passenger and commercial vehicles. The brand’s Smart Mobility pavilion will be split into interactive zones like Residential Zone, Sports Zone, Smart Energy Zone, and Inter and Intracity Zones. Each zone, with its digital engagements around the product exhibits, is expected to provide Auto Expo audiences with an engaging experience.
