Tata Motors has recorded wholesales of 6,49,477 passenger vehicles between January and October 2026, crossing the 6 lakh mark in a calendar year for the first time; the 7,00,000 milestone could be crossed this month. With this, the carmaker has already outpaced its 2025 sales of 5,73,007 units. If the estimated combined passenger vehicle sales of 1,40,000 units in November and December are added to the 10-month tally, Tata could end the year with close to 7,90,000 units.
The manufacturer also recorded its highest-ever monthly wholesales of 73,894 units in October. While model-wise figures for last month are not yet available, the numbers for the first nine months of 2026 give an indication of the sales performance.
The combined share of the Punch, Nexon, Sierra, Harrier, Curvv and Safari in Tata’s passenger vehicle sales rose to 83 percent from 76 percent a year ago. Between January and September, these six SUVs recorded combined sales of 4,78,153 units, a 53 percent increase over the 3,11,933 units sold in the same period in 2025. Meanwhile, the cumulative share of the Tiago, Altroz and Tigor (which was replaced by the Aeris in September 2026) fell to 17 percent from 24 percent. Sales numbers of these models declined by 1 percent to 97,440 units from 98,222 units in January-September 2025.

The Punch was Tata Motors’s bestselling model between January and September 2026, with 1,82,269 units sold, a 49 percent year-on-year increase. It accounted for 32 percent of the 5,75,593 passenger vehicles sold during this period. The Nexon came second with 1,74,524 units, up 28 percent, comprising 30 percent of overall sales. Interestingly, a year ago, the Nexon was ahead of the Punch.
Launched in January 2026, the Sierra has sold 62,574 units so far, accounting for 11 percent of Tata’s passenger vehicle sales during the period. The Tiago ranked fourth with 62,512 units, up 2 percent year on year. It was followed by the Harrier, which recorded 27,915 units, marking a 66 percent increase. The Altroz, which recently crossed 3.5 lakh cumulative sales since its January 2020 launch, ranked sixth with 24,332 units, down 7 percent. The Curvv came seventh with 16,070 units, a decline of 33 percent. The Safari ranked eighth with 14,801 units, up 17 percent, followed by the Tigor.
Tata sold 1,24,792 electric vehicles between January and October 2026, an 88 percent increase over the same period last year. EVs accounted for 20 percent of the brand’s total passenger vehicle sales during this period.
Among its six EV models, the Nexon EV remains the biggest seller, while the updated Tiago EV and Punch EV are also seeing higher demand. Tata Motors has also extended its Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) option to the Nexon EV, Curvv EV, Sierra EV and Harrier EV, which could further support demand.
Tata Motors’s 10-month wholesales numbers reveal that Q1 was the best quarter yet in the current year. Q4 (October-December 2026), which opened with October’s record 73,894 units and could see a higher number in festive November, is likely to surpass 2,00,000 units.
