Nissan India has partially revealed its upcoming Hyundai Creta rival and disclosed the C-SUV’s name. Called the Nissan Tekton, the new SUV is expected to launch in India in mid-2026. Tekton means “craftsman” or “architect” in Greek, and so far, the Japanese brand has revealed several details about the Tekton exterior design and a few bits about its interior.

  1. Nissan Tekton exterior inspired by the larger Patrol SUV
  2. Tekton’s dashboard gets a three-tone theme

Nissan’s senior design director, Ken Lee, stated that the Tekton’s design is greatly inspired by the Patrol. From a tweaked version of the larger SUV’s grille to the character lines and C-shaped design elements, the Tekton is claimed to be a baby Patrol in styling.

The LED headlight and tail-light units are connected across the width of the Tekton and form a C-shaped motif – another nod to the Patrol SUV. Some design elements, such as the flared wheel arches that house multi-spoke alloy wheels, link the Creta rival to the smaller Magnite.

There’s Tekton lettering on the nose, and the sculpted, scooped bonnet flows down to the grille. Distinctive silver air intake-like design elements can be seen on the front doors above the fender. The front and rear bumpers get a dual-tone black and silver finish. The rear highlights are the upright tailgate and the roof-mounted, sporty-looking spoiler.

While Nissan is yet to showcase the Tekton’s interior properly, a teaser image showed that the SUV’s dashboard comprises three tones – soft-touch materials on the top and a glossy black finish for the rest of the surfaces, contrasted by a copper-coloured strip that runs from the central infotainment screen to the side AC vents.

So far, there’s no word on engine options for the Tekton, but the line-up is likely to be petrol-only; the upcoming Renault Duster is based on the same platform and is expected to share petrol engines with its Nissan counterpart. The Nissan Tekton will roll out of the Renault-Nissan Alliance plant in Chennai for the Indian and select export markets.
