Mahindra BE07 concept

At its recent quarterly earnings call, Mahindra confirmed that its next electric offering will only be arriving in 2027, which is going to be the production version of the BE.07 concept that was showcased in August 2022. It’s internally referred to as the B07, although a 2027 launch means the electric SUV is slightly delayed from its originally promised launch timeline of October 2026

  1. BE.07 will be larger than BE 6, measuring about 4.6 metres in length
  2. Expected to have the same underpinnings and battery options as the existing EVs
  3. Will be positioned as a rival to the likes of Tata Harrier EV and Vinfast VF7

Mahindra BE.07: What to expect?

Next Mahindra EV launch confirmed for 2027

The BE.07 will be the second product in Mahindra’s BE series and the brand’s fourth born-electric vehicle after the XEV 9e, BE 6 and XEV 9S. The production model will likely bear a different name, but the concept had previewed a large, 4.6-metre 5-seater with a traditional SUV body style to be positioned above the BE 6. It will be targeted directly against the likes of the Tata Harrier EV and Vinfast VF7

The production-spec BE.07 will be underpinned by the same INGLO platform as the existing EVs, with battery options ranging between 60kWh and 80kWh. Visually, it can be expected to retain a lot of design cues from Mahindra’s existing crop of EVs, including the edgy lighting signatures, but the overall design will likely be a little more conservative than the radical-looking BE 6 and XEV 9e. The interior, too, can be expected to be bombarded with tech with a triple-screen layout, although we hope Mahindra takes into consideration feedback to incorporate physical interior controls this time around.

Mahindra expects BE.07 to be a high-volume product

“We believe the BO7 will be a very big volume driver on top of what we are doing with our current three products,” said Rajesh Jejurikar, executive director and CEO, Mahindra and Mahindra, in the earnings call.

For context, Mahindra is currently averaging monthly EV sales of about 4,000 units and plans to ramp it up to about 6,000-7,000 units over the course of the year. However, it’s important to note that the EV growth rate has slowed down of late, and it remains to be seen if actual demand will keep pace with Mahindra’s expectations.

What’s on the cards for 2026?

Having launched the XEV 9S in late 2025, followed by the XUV 3XO EV in January, Mahindra has no other EV lined up for 2026. However, the carmaker will be bringing refreshes to two of its ICE models, one of which will be the first mid-cycle facelift for the Scorpio N. Mahindra is also expected to update the Thar range, although details on this are scarce at the moment.
