The new 2021 Skoda Octavia will see a market launch next month. Zac Hollis, Brand Director - Sales, Service and Marketing, Skoda Auto India, made the announcement via Twitter today. The market launch of the Octavia was earlier planned to take place sometime in May 2021 but was put on hold due to COVID-19 related lockdown-like protocols in many states of India.

  • New Octavia launch now planned for June 2021
  • Will come with a sole 190hp 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine
  • To get a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and connected car tech
  • New Skoda Kushaq and Kodiaq petrol launches lined up for 2021

2021 Skoda Octavia: What we know so far

Built on the updated MQB platform, the new executive sedan is larger than the outgoing model and will be offered with a sole petrol engine. The third-gen Octavia gets fresh Skoda family looks that are also seen on other newer Skoda Models like the recently unveiled Fabia and the upcoming Kushaq. The new Octavia also bears a closer resemblance to the larger Superb with a similar family design featuring conventional headlamps flanking the trademark grille and clean lines and creases along the body.

On the inside, the Octavia gets a free-standing touchscreen sitting atop the centre console on a shelf-like panel. It will also come with a two-spoke steering wheel like the Superb and the Kushaq SUV.

2021 Skoda Octavia: Engine and powertrain details

As mentioned previously, the new Octavia will be available with a single petrol powerplant – a 190hp, 2.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine. A 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox will be offered as standard. Unlike its predecessor, there will be no diesel engine option.

2021 Skoda Octavia: Rivals in India

The only rival to the new Octavia in India will be the Hyundai Elantra sedan. The Honda Civic which was also a contender in this segment has been discontinued.
