Just as we step into the new financial year, MG Motor has revised prices of its SUV line-up in India. More importantly, the two lower variants of the MG Astor midsize SUV are currently unavialable for bookings, therefore bringing up the starting price of the Astor considerably.

    • MG Astor Style, Super variants bookings temporarily paused
    • Hector, Hector Plus, Gloster prices increased by up to Rs 50,000
    • Newly launched ZS EV price remains unchanged

    MG Astor: waiting periods

Speaking to our dealer sources, we can confirm that MG has temporarily paused bookings for the lower Style and Super variants of the Astor. The carmaker is currently focusing on delivering its existing orders of the Astor, although Style and Super are expected to be brought back soon. The prices of the other variants remain unchanged.

With the temporary halt in bookings for Style and Super variants, the entry price of the Astor has shot up considerably. The base Style trim was priced from Rs 9.98 lakh. But now, the entry price starts at Rs 13.28 lakh* (for Smart), going up to Rs 17.72 lakh* for the top-spec Savvy turbo-petrol automatic variant.

As such, the Astor is currently available in three variants: Smart, Sharp and Savvy. Thus, the Astor’s prices have gone up by Rs 3.3 lakh, which also makes the entry-price the costliest in the midsize SUV segment.

As for engine options, there’s a 110hp, 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, mated to either a five-speed manual or eight-step CVT automatic gearbox. There’s also a 140hp, 1.3-litre, turbo-petrol engine that only gets a 6-speed torque converter automatic.

Our dealer sources have also confirmed that most variants of the Astor currently have an average waiting period of two to three months. However, the new entry-level Smart petrol-manual variant has the highest waiting period of five to six months.

MG Hector, Hector Plus, Gloster: price hike

As is synonymous at the beginning of any financial year, MG has also increased prices of the Hector, Hector Plus and Gloster SUVs. The Gloster sees a uniform price hike of Rs 50,000 for all variants. It is now priced from Rs 31.49 lakh-39.49 lakh*, up from the Rs 30.99 lakh-38.99 lakh*.

Meanwhile, prices for the Hector have gone up by Rs 20,000 across all variants. The Hector is now priced from Rs 14.15 lakh-20.11 lakh*. Prices for the three-row Hector Plus have also gone up by Rs 20,000, although the second-from-base Sharp variant sees a hike of Rs 25,000. The Hector Plus is currently priced from Rs 18.65 lakh-20.75 lakh*.

    *All prices ex-showroom, India
