Aiming to increase presence in smaller cities, Maruti Suzuki has inaugurated its 200th Nexa Studio outlet, situated near the carmaker’s manufacturing facility in Kharkhoda, Haryana. With this, Maruti’s Nexa network has grown to 740 outlets in 530 cities across India.

Maruti Nexa Studio: What is it?

The outlets are exclusive to smaller cities

The Nexa Studio series of outlets was conceived to widen reach in tier-2 and tier-3 cities and smaller towns, where establishing a full-scale Nexa showroom may not be feasible. Studio outlets act as all-in-one touchpoints for sales, after-sales services and spare parts, allowing Maruti to further expand its network while keeping investment costs in check. By the end of FY2031, Maruti aims to have 600 Nexa Studio outlets.

With these outlets, Maruti aims to introduce its premium range to more urban and semi-urban centres, and the timing is critical as it expects the recently introduced e Vitara to drive volumes. As per the brand, tier-2 and tier-3 cities account for up to 10 percent of its EV sales. If the network is limited, the carmaker might not be able to reach potential customers. Besides being its first EV, the e Vitara is an important model for Maruti, which is going all out with competitive prices and offering a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) scheme.

Maruti Suzuki’s managing director and chief executive officer, Hisashi Takeuchi, said, “There is a growing segment of customers in these areas who are desirous of a premium car buying experience. To cater to their needs, we are happy to expand our Nexa footprint to such locations.” Currently, Maruti’s Nexa showrooms retail cars such as the Ignis, Baleno, Fronx, Jimny, XL6, Grand Vitara, Invicto and e Vitara.
