The Mahindra Thar facelift has been spotted testing ahead of its launch next year. While the model in these images is camouflaged, some obvious design details are visible. In fact, spy shots floating online confirm a number of details we exclusively reported in April.
- Mid-cycle Thar facelift gets more changes on the inside
- Thar facelift interior also borrows from Roxx
- Model spied is likely powered by the 1.5-litre diesel
Mahindra Thar facelift interior and exterior changes
Spy shots show a new steering, power window switches on the door, larger touchscreen
Other than design changes to the front end – from the new grille to the reshaped front bumpers with fog lamp housings, and rear bumpers – the Mahindra Thar facelift spied is expected to have new alloy wheels and C-shaped LED signatures in the headlights and tail-lights. The more extensive changes will be seen on the inside.
The Thar facelift’s interior borrows a lot from the 5-door Roxx, such as the steering wheel, A-pillar-mounted grab handles, the centre console in front of the gear lever (suggesting the addition of a wireless charger), power window switches on the windows, and the 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen.
Mahindra Thar facelift petrol and diesel engines
Same engine and gearbox options will continue with the refreshed Thar
The spy images available online also show that the model being tested is the Thar RWD, with the 1.5-litre diesel engine – currently produces 117hp and 300Nm of torque – paired with the 6-speed manual transmission. The 152hp, 2.0-litre petrol engine, which is available with manual and automatic gearbox options and RWD and 4WD options will also continue, as will the 132hp 2.2-litre mill in 4WD manual and automatic form.
