A refreshed Jeep Meridian has been unveiled for the Brazilian market, where the 7-seat SUV is on sale with the Commander name. The Jeep Commander has been available in the South American market since 2021, a little before the Meridian arrived in India, and has received its mid-lifecycle facelift, bringing minor design changes outside and some tweaks on the inside.

Compared to the Jeep Meridian on sale in India, the 2026 Commander’s headlights look thicker, as does the iconic 7-slat grille. The headlight units also now sport LED daytime running lamps (DRLs), which were located in the bumper of its predecessor. The front bumper and fog light cluster some revision, and new alloy wheel designs are on offer. Unlike the India-spec Meridian, the rear tail-lights are connected by an LED strip, and higher versions get dual exhaust pipes.

5-seat layout discontinued

Like the Meridian in India, the Commander was offered in 5- and 7-seat layouts; however, Jeep Brazil has discontinued the 5-seater due to low demand. Other than a rotary gear selector for the higher-spec versions and changes in upholstery, the interior of the 2026 facelift is identical to the outgoing model. The feature list also continues unchanged, from the Level 2 ADAS suite to the 360-degree camera on range-topping trims.

2026 Jeep Commander engine options

Turbocharged 1.3-litre flex fuel, 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engines continue

The Commander continues with the same three engine options, all of which come with an automatic gearbox only, which is unlike the India-spec Meridian; the SUV here gets a 170hp, 2.0-litre diesel with manual and automatic gearbox options. Engine options on the Commander include a 176hp, 1.3-litre turbocharged flex-fuel, a 272hp, 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and a 200hp, 2.2-litre diesel engine. Models that run the flex-fuel engine send power to the front wheels via a 6-speed automatic, while the turbo-petrol and diesel engines transmit power to all four wheels via a 9-speed automatic.

Jeep Meridian in India

At the end of last year, the Jeep Meridian received a minor facelift, which introduced the 5-seat variant, and later a variant rejig. Jeep India also launched a limited-run Meridian Trail Edition last month, which costs Rs 48,000 more than the Limited (O) variant on which it is based. Prices for the Meridian currently range from Rs 24.99 lakh to Rs 38.79 lakh, ex-showroom, India.
