Ford Endeavour prices hiked by up to Rs 1.20 lakh

The Ford Endeavour SUV’s price in India has been hiked by Rs 44,000 and up to Rs 1.20 lakh. Ford was originally set to hike prices of the BS6 Endeavour in April. However, the nationwide lockdown lead to the manufacturer extending the SUV’s introductory pricing till July 31, 2020, in a bid to spur demand.

    • Ford Endeavour range now starts at Rs 29.99 lakh
    • Introductory prices ranged from Rs 29.55 lakh to Rs 33.25 lakh
    • Powered by a 170hp, 2.0-litre turbo-diesel; 10-speed automatic

How much has the price been hiked by?

Prices for the entry-level Endeavour Titanium 4x2 variant have been hiked by Rs 44,000. Furthermore, prices for the top-spec Titanium+ variants have been hiked by a substantial Rs 1.20 lakh each. Given below are the new variant-wise prices for the BS6 Ford Endeavour, along with the old prices and the difference between them.

How does it compare against its rivals?

In this BS6 era, the Ford Endeavour faces competition from the Toyota Fortuner and the Mahindra Alturas G4. The hike in prices means that the Endeavour diesel range is now priced on par with the Fortuner’s. The Ford still manages to slightly undercut the Toyota at the lower end but is marginally more expensive at the top end.  Do note, Toyota is currently offering a limited edition Fortuner TRD variant that comes with more equipment like a 360-degree camera and heads-up display and is priced from Rs 34.98 lakh to Rs 36.88 lakh. The Mahindra Alturas, as before, continues to undercut both its rivals by a significant margin. The other competitor in this range, the Isuzu MU-X, is yet to be upgraded to meet BS6 emission norms.

What’s new on the updated Endeavour?

The updated Ford Endeavour was launched in February at Rs 29.55 lakh. The major talking point was the inclusion of an all-new, BS6-compliant, 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine. Dubbed ‘EcoBlue’ by Ford, the four-pot motor puts out 170hp and 420Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a new 10-speed automatic gearbox as standard; there is no more manual. The ARAI-rated fuel efficiency of the BS6 Ford Endeavour is 13.9kpl and 12.4kpl, for the 4x2 and 4x4 versions, respectively.

Amongst other things, the updated Endeavour gets LED headlights, a new design for the alloy wheels and Ford’s new ‘FordPass’ connected-car tech.
