One of the biggest talking points on the updated Endeavour is its all-new, BS6-compliant, 2.0-litre EcoBlue turbo-diesel engine, which is good for 170hp and 420Nm of torque. Although these figures don’t match the output of the 200hp/470Nm, 3.2-litre Duratorq diesel unit that was previously offered with the Endeavour, they do outmatch the 160hp/385Nm 2.2-litre, four-cylinder diesel mill. The new 2.0-litre EcoBlue engine is offered with a sole 10-speed automatic gearbox option and it happens to be the only automatic gearbox with 10 gears currently available in the country. It is also worth noting that the ARAI claimed mileage for the 2.0 EcoBlue in 4X2 form is 13.9kpl, which is higher than the older 2.2-litre ATs 12.62kpl figure. The new Endeavour 2.0 4x4, meanwhile, is rated at 12.4kpl, which is again higher than the outgoing 3.2-litre 4x4 version’s 10.6kpl ARAI figure.

Visually the distinguishing factors are more subtle, as the new Endeavour features slightly redesigned headlights. The other change is that the faux vent on the fender no longer shows the engine capacity. It instead just sports ‘Endeavour’ lettering.

Coming to the interiors, the design and layout is identical to the outgoing Endeavour, barring the new gear lever. The SUV continues to come with the build quality it is known for and the materials used on the inside feel premium. Ford has also fitted the Endeavour with an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with SYNC 3 and Apple CarPlay, Android Auto compatibility. The tops-spec model also features seven airbags, front and rear parking sensors, semi-automatic parallel park assist and 8-way power adjustable front seats.

Another new addition to the Endeavour is the FordPass connected car app, which adds 55 new features allowing users to remotely start the car, switch the AC on, locate the vehicle and so on.

The Ford Endeavour joins the Toyota Fortuner in being the only SUVs in their segment to be BS6-compliant. For now, BS6 Toyota Fortuner prices are the same as the BS4 prices, though this will change after an introductory period. The Mahindra Alturas G4 and the Isuzu MU-X have yet to be updated.
