Entry-level BMW 530i Sport launched at Rs 55.40 lakh

BMW India has expanded its 5 Series petrol line-up by introducing a new entry-level 530i Sport variant at Rs 55.40 lakh. The BMW 5 Series range is now available in four variants, two petrols and two diesels. The other petrol offering is the top-spec 530i M Sport (Rs 60.90 lakh), while the diesels include the 520d Luxury Line and the 530d M Sport, which are priced at Rs 59.30 lakh and Rs 66.80 lakh respectively.

The 530i Sport gets the same BS6-compliant, 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine as the M Sport. It produces 252hp at 5,200rpm and 350Nm of torque at 1,450-4,800rpm, which is sent to the rear wheels via an 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The Sport also features five driving modes – Comfort, Eco Pro, Sport, Sport+ and Adaptive.

In terms of safety, the new 530i Sport gets six airbags, ABS with brake assist, cornering brake control, dynamic stability control, dynamic traction control, side impact protection, ISOFIX child seat mounts and three-point seatbelts for all five passengers.

The 530i Sport is equipped with features like dual-zone automatic climate control, BMW display key, ambient lighting, adaptive LED headlights, an electric sunroof, a 12.3-inch multi-functional instrument display, and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, navigation, BMW apps and gesture control compatibility. When compared to the higher M Sport variant, the 530i Sport loses out on features like the M Sport exterior package, active damper control, a 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, 360-degree parking camera, ‘Dakota’ leather upholstery and wireless charging.

The BMW 5 Series range competes with other luxury sedans like the Mercedes-Benz E-class (Rs 59.08-75.29 lakh), the Jaguar XF (Rs 54.84 lakh), Audi A6 (Rs 54.42-59.42 lakh) and the Volvo S90 (Rs 51.90-58.90 lakh).
