BYD Sealion 7 bookings open: Auto Expo 2025

The BYD Sealion 7 made its India debut at the Auto Expo 2025 in New Delhi. The bookings for this all-electric coupe-SUV have also started today for a token amount of Rs 70,000. The Sealion 7 will be BYD’s fourth model in India, joining the line-up comprising the Seal, Atto 3, and eMax 7. BYD will announce the prices on February 17 as deliveries are commencing in March.

Interestingly, BYD is providing additional benefits for customers who book the SUV by February 17. In line with the ‘7’ theme, the booking amount is Rs 70,000, and BYD will also give an equal contribution of Rs 70,000 towards the price of the car. Then, there’s a 7-year/1.50 lakh km warranty and a free 7kW AC charger with free installation. Deliveries for the first 70 units of the Sealion 7 will begin from March 7. 

BYD Sealion 7 design and features 

The Sealion 7 has the distinctive Ocean-X styling with X design motifs, as seen on the Seal sedan. In fact, it shares a lot of design cues with the Seal sedan – it has similar headlamps and connected tail-lamp setups, with a more aggressive front and rear bumper design. The Sealion 7 stretches the tape at over 4.8 meters and has a wheelbase of 2,930mm. BYD offers the Sealion 7 in four colour options in India: Cosmos Black, Atlantis Grey, Aurora White and Shark Grey.

As for the features, the 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen, familiar in other BYD models, occupies the dashboard’s centre. A majority of functions can be accessed and controlled via this touchscreen infotainment unit.

Other features include a floating instrument cluster, ventilated front seats, an electrically adjustable driver’s seat with memory function, a panoramic glass roof with a sunshade, a 50W wireless phone charger, a heads-up-display, connected car tech, powered tailgate and even vehicle-to-load (V2L), where you can power external devices via your car’s battery pack. 

BYD Sealion 7 battery, performance and range

The Sealion 7 is available in Premium and Performance variants, and both have the same 82.5kWh LFP Blade battery pack. The Premium variant comes in a rear-wheel-drive configuration, producing 313hp and 380Nm, while the Performance has all-wheel drive, with outputs of 530hp and 690Nm. BYD claims that the Sealion 7’s electric motor is the fastest such unit in mass production, spinning up to 23,000rpm.

BYD claims a 0-100kph sprint time of 6.7 seconds for the Premium variant and 4.5 seconds for the Performance version. The MIDC-claimed range on a single charge is 567km for the former and 542km for the latter.

Expect BYD to position the Sealion 7 above the Seal sedan in India, so its ex-showroom prices could be north of Rs 60 lakh. For its size and specs, the Sealion 7 has no direct rivals in India, but it will see some competition from similarly priced models, such as the Kia EV6.
