Despite being mechanically identical to the updated Skoda Kushaq, the Taigun facelift is Rs 31,000 more expensive in terms of starting price. It is also pricier than the new Renault Duster (Rs 10.49 lakh-18.49 lakh), which was launched recently. Other rivals include the Kia Seltos, Tata Sierra, Hyundai Creta, Honda Elevate, Maruti Victoris, Toyota Hyryder, and more.
2026 Volkswagen Taigun facelift powertrain updates
Same engines, but with new AT for the 1.0 TSI
The Taigun facelift brings forth the same 115hp 1.0-litre and 150hp 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engines as the previous model, that too with their 6-speed manual and 7-speed DCT gearbox options, respectively. However, the 1.0 TSI now gets the same 8-speed torque converter automatic that debuted in the Kushaq facelift.
Claimed fuel efficiency is also up across the board. The facelifted Taigun achieves a rated mileage of 19.54kpl for the 1.0 TSI AT, 19.98kpl for the 1.0 TSI MT, and 18.85kpl for the 1.5 TSI DCT. Another important technical upgrade is rear disc brakes in higher variants – a much-requested feature.
2026 Volkswagen Taigun facelift exterior and interior
Front end looks noticeably different, but rear looks mostly the same
On the outside, the Taigun facelift notably features reshaped headlights, updated bumpers, illuminated front and rear Volkswagen emblems, a revised rear LED light bar (now with sequential indicators), new alloy wheel designs, and a pair of fresh colour options, namely Avocado Pearl and Steel Grey.
Cabin layout is largely unchanged, but gets key feature upgrades
Inside, layout changes are minimal, but there are new colour schemes depending on the variant you go for. The Taigun facelift's feature set has also been expanded with a new 10.25-inch digital driver's display, a panoramic sunroof, and an updated 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen, alongside existing creature comforts like powered and ventilated front seats, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, ambient lighting, a wireless charging pad, a 6-speaker sound system, etc.
Like the Kushaq facelift, the updated Taigun gets a variable geometry compressor to improve AC performance, though it curiously misses out on the rear-seat massage function that the Skoda SUV offers.
All prices are ex-showroom, India.
