Chinese carmaker Leapmotor has filed a design patent for its B10 SUV in India, marking its second such filing after the C10. While this patent does not confirm a launch, the B10 could be among the models Leapmotor - part-owned by Stellantis - is considering for India. Stellantis had announced Leapmotor's entry here in April last year. At the time, sources even said the brand would begin with the T03 hatchback and the C10 premium SUV, but that plan has yet to materialise.

  1. B10 available in range-extender hybrid and EV versions internationally
  2. Hybrid model has a claimed 900km range
  3. Leapmotor to be Stellantis' fourth sub-brand here after Citroen, Jeep and Maserati

The Leapmotor B10 has a clean and modern SUV design, and it measures 4,515mm long, 1,885mm wide and 1,655mm tall, along with a 2,735mm wheelbase. Up front, it gets slim DRLs bridged by a blacked-out trim, and rectangular LED headlights and fog lamps are placed below. A slightly raised bonnet gives it a more upright look.

The ORVMs come with auto-fold, heating, reverse tilt and memory functions and it also gets rear privacy glass and a panoramic sunroof. At the rear, the SUV features connected LED tail-lamps and a stop lamp-mounted spoiler. Other features include an electric tailgate, wiper and washer and parking sensors.

The five-seater SUV's cabin has a minimal layout, with the dashboard housing a 14.6-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and an 8.8-inch digital driver display. Soft-touch material is used for the door trims, and chrome accents are present around the AC vents. The seats use eco-friendly materials with a multi-layer construction, which Leapmotor claims results in both passenger comfort and reduced cabin odour. Up front, both seats are powered, heated and ventilated, while the steering wheel is heated as well. Other features include 12 speakers, a wireless charger, 64-colour ambient lighting and rear AV vents.

Safety

B10's safety suite comprises seven airbags, 360-degree camera, and Level 2 ADAS with 17 driver assistance features, including adaptive cruise control, front collision warning and rear cross traffic braking. The B10 EV also received a full five-star safety rating from the Euro NCAP crash tests in 2025.

Leapmotor B10 powertrains

In international markets, range-extender hybrid and EV versions of the B10 are avaialable. The B10 hybrid features a 1.5-litre petrol engine acting as a generator to charge the 18.8kWh battery pack; it also supports external charging via 46kW DC fast charger (30-80 percent in 30 minutes) and 6.6kW AC charger (30-80 percent in 1.45 hours). A 218hp electric motor sources power from the battery to drive the wheels, and this setup has a combined claimed range of 900km.

Meanwhile, the B10 EV uses a larger 67.1kWh LFP battery (usable), also paired to a 218hp e-motor. The 0-100kph sprint takes 8 seconds, topping out at 171kph. The all-electric B10 has a 434km range, according to the WLTP or Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicles Test Procedure. Speaking of fast charging, the B10 EV supports speeds of up to 168kW, enabling a 30-80 percent top-up in just 30 minutes.

Leapmotor B10 market positioning

While Leapmotor is yet to commence its India innings, if it launches the B10 executive SUV here, its competition will vary by the powertrain. On the EV side, the B10 would go up against models like the Vinfast VF7, Tata Harrier EV and BYD Atto 3 and Hyundai Ioniq 5. Whearas, a range-extender hybrid SUV offering is currently absent from the executive SUV space. The Tata Harrier, for instance, is offered with turbo-petrol or diesel engine options, while the Jeep Compass is available only with a diesel.

As reported earlier, Stellantis has been evaluating the option of bringing Leapmotor EVs to India as CKD units and assembling them at its Ranjangaon facility before moving towards localisation. However, there's still no official clarity on launch timelines or the extent of local manufacturing.
