A new promotional video gives us a complete look at the exterior design of the upcoming Sierra EV.

Ahead of the Sierra EV’s launch on June 30, Tata Motors has given us a complete look at its exterior design. While the electric midsize SUV remains largely unchanged from its ICE-powered counterpart, it gets a slightly different fascia through varied use of colours. Mechanically, the Sierra EV is expected to be similar to the Harrier EV, sharing even its AWD configuration.

The Sierra EV takes an aesthetic approach similar to Tata’s existing ICE-to-EV conversions, where the electric iteration gets a blanked-off grille and a slightly different face from its ICE version. Changes to the profile and rear are very limited.

A body-coloured blanked-off grille has replaced the regular Sierra’s blacked-out, functional unit. The lighting elements remain exactly the same, but unlike the ICE Sierra, the EV lacks the ‘Sierra’ branding just below the LED light bar. Lower down, the bumper has a gloss-black finish and a faux silver skid plate on the chin. In essence, the colourways have been reversed here.

In profile and at the rear, the only differentiators are the ‘Sierra.ev’ badges on the front doors and the tailgate; even the 19-inch alloy wheels remain unchanged. The Sierra EV, however, is likely to get new colour options, such as the silver shade seen here.

Tata Sierra EV interior and features

Tata has not revealed the interior yet, but expect similarities to continue inside the cabin, too. The triple-screen setup – comprising a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch central touchscreen and a 12.3-inch passenger screen – is likely on the higher trims, whereas lower variants could get a dual-screen setup and a head-up display (HUD). Other expected features include a panoramic sunroof, powered and ventilated front seats, a premium audio system and drive modes.

Mechanically, the Sierra EV is expected to be related to the Harrier EV. Therefore, it will likely be underpinned by Tata’s acti.ev+ architecture and carry over the Harrier EV’s 65kWh and 75kWh battery options. Tata also recently confirmed that the Sierra EV will be offered with all-wheel drive, likely on the top-spec trim; lower variants are expected to have a rear-wheel-drive configuration. As the Sierra will be smaller and lighter than the Harrier EV, its claimed range figure could be higher. The Harrier EV offers up to 627km.

The Sierra EV will slot right between the Curvv EV and the Harrier EV in Tata’s rapidly expanding EV portfolio. Expected to be priced in the Rs 18 lakh to Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom) ballpark, it will rival the likes of the Mahindra BE 6Hyundai Creta Electric, MG ZS EV and Maruti e Vitara.
