Jaguar has announced that the production-spec Type 01 will debut in October 2026. At its 2026 investor day held on June 17, the carmaker stated that the unveiling would take place in New York, USA. The debut of the Type 01 comes almost two years after its concept version, the Type 00, was revealed in 2024. The unveiling of the Type 01 will revive Jaguar's portfolio after the discontinuation of the F-Pace SUV, its only model on sale, in 2025.

  1. Prototype showcased in Monaco utilising Pirelli tyres.
  2. Tri-motor setup to produce over 1000hp and 1300Nm of torque.
  3. To offer a WLTP-certified range of over 700km.

This marks the second time the EV's debut has been pushed back. The Type 01 was originally scheduled to debut in 2025, but it was postponed to September 2026.

Leonard Hoornik, Chief Commercial Officer at JLR, spoke briefly about the Type 01's debut, saying, “We will launch it… in a very, very special way.” Our sister publication Autocar UK reported that the decision to pick a US location following the concept’s unveiling at the Goodwood Festival of Speed last year shows that JLR still believes America will be a key market for the car, despite the country’s rollback of emissions legislation and the criticism from some commentators over the brand's relaunch.

The Type 01 will be Jaguar's first all-new model after the brand changed its identity. While the Type 00 concept was a two-door model, the production-spec Type 01 will be a four-door electric GT. According to Jaguar, the ‘0’ means zero tailpipe emissions, while ‘1’ signifies the first Jaguar for the new era. So far, it's known that it will be underpinned by the Jaguar Electric Architecture (JEA) and powered by three motors developing over 1000hp and 1300Nm. It’ll have a WLTP-certified range of over 700km, with a 15-minute quick charge providing up to 321km. Air suspension with twin-valve active dampers will be onboard as well.

The Type 01 has been undergoing testing in the months leading up to its launch. Recently, a heavily camouflaged prototype lapped the Monaco circuit in May, ahead of the Formula E E-Prix. The Type 01 will come to global markets in the first half of 2027 and will take on the likes of the Ferrari Luce, Audi e-tron GT, Porsche Taycan and the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe EV.
