Hyundai’s upcoming Bayon-based compact SUV (codename: Bc4i) was recently spied testing abroad, revealing fresh details about its exterior. The India-bound SUV is expected to share the same underpinnings as the global-spec Bayon crossover, and will slot between the sub-compact Exter and the compact Venue SUV in India. It is expected to launch by Q3 2026.

Camouflaged mule features LED light setup and a resemblance to the Venue.
At first glance, the overall silhouette of the SUV is reminiscent of the Venue. The front end features a split LED headlamp setup with the DRL signatures looking similar to those of the Venue, with generous body cladding on the lower part of the bumper. The side profile, including the window line and cladding over the wheel arches, also looks similar, and it gets a new set of alloy wheels. Though camouflaged, we can see that it gets a difference LED tail-light setup. While spy shots don’t reveal the interior, it could likely come well-equipped like other Hyundai models.

To get new 1.2-litre turbo-petrol; a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol is also expected.
The Bayon-based compact SUV will debut with a new 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine being developed by Hyundai. This engine sits between the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine used in its compact models and the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine doing duty in midsize models. The 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine is also being made hybrid-ready as part of the carmaker's hybrid-powered model strategy. Expect it to be paired with either a DCT or an e-CVT gearbox. A 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, which currently serves the likes of the i20 N Line and Venue, could also be part of the line-up. It could be paired with a manual or a DCT gearbox.

Could likely be priced in the Rs 7 lakh-15 lakh range, ex-showroom.
Expect the price of the Bayon-based compact SUV to range from Rs 7 lakh-15 lakh (ex-showroom). It will rival the Maruti Suzuki Fronx, Toyota Taisor, Citroen C3, Renault Kiger and Nissan Magnite.
