We already have a Royal Enfield Classic 350 at home, and I want to buy something different. My daily commute is around 50km, travelling between home and the office. I don't enjoy long-distance touring, and my budget is around 3 lakh. I'm confused between the Royal Enfield Meteor 350, Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450, Harley-Davidson X440 Vivid, and the Triumph Speed 400.

autocar.india
Since you already have a RE Classic 350 at home, we'd recommend you remove the Meteor 350 and Harley-Davidson X440 from your shortlist because these bikes will feel quite similar to your Classic. The 350cc Triumph Speed 400 and Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 will offer a more engaging riding experience with more performance and features on tap, and are the ones we'd advise you to choose between. Of the two, the Triumph bike has the more mellow nature, but it will still feel like a good step up from your Classic in terms of performance and handling. The Guerrilla, on the other hand, is quite excitable and of the two, this is definitely the more fun machine. Its suspension is a little taut, which enables it to have very engaging handling, but over bad roads, you will feel a little more of the road surface coming through to your back. The RE also has a crisper, more tech-laden TFT display, whereas the Triumph uses a simple digi-analogue unit.Take a test ride of both before you make your decision, since they are quite different to ride.

I am considering the Royal Enfield Meteor 350, Honda CB350C, and TVS Apache RTX for my next motorcycle purchase. I really like the styling of the Meteor 350, but the features offered by the TVS Apache RTX are very appealing. Considering all aspects, which of these motorcycles would you recommend as the better overall choice?

autocar.india
The TVS Apache RTX 300 may be in the same price and displacement bracket as the RE Meteor 350 and Honda CB350C but it is a completely different sort of bike. It has a more powerful, rev-happy, liquid-cooled engine, better suspension and seating comfort and sportier handling than the two laidback neo-retro machines you've shortlisted. On the other hand, the air-cooled 350s will have a more torque-rich and laidback riding experience. While these bikes will be slower, they're sure to have more of an emotional connect with you. Since these are such drastically different machines, only a test ride will help you decide which is the best one for you.

I am 50 years old and my height is 5′11″. I enjoy long rides. Between the Harley X440 and the Meteor 350, which bike is better for me?

autocar.india
Both the Harley Davidson X440 and the Royal Enfield Meteor 350 are similar in some ways, in that both use simple, air-cooled engines and aren't overly sporty. However, the bigger Harley has a clear performance advantage, which will be useful when you need to make an overtake at highway speeds. Its 6-speed gearbox will also ensure that the engine stays smooth and relaxed at 100-110kph. It is something the smaller Royal Enfield bike won't be able to sustain so comfortably. If you are the sort of rider who rarely ventures over 80-90kph, then the more affordable Meteor 350 would be a good fit.

I am looking for a new bike. I have been riding since I was 18, and my father’s CB Unicorn 160 has been my companion for long rides of 160-200 km. Now it’s time to get myself a new partner. I want a 350 cc bike for daily commuting. My first choice is the Honda CB350, and my other choice is the RE Meteor 350. I am a bit confused as they are similar in many parameters, so the team’s valuable insights and suggestions will help me make my purchase.

autocar.india
Since you have had a good experience with the Unicorn in the past, sticking with the Honda bike and going for the CB350 is a good bet. The CB350 is a comfortable, reliable and decently fuel-efficient machine which should last a long time without major problems, by and large. The Royal Enfield Meteor 350 has a similar feel to the CB350 but has a more laid-back rider's triangle. It won't be ideal over bad patches of road. Instead, we recommend you look at its siblings, like the Hunter / Bullet / Classic, because with their more upright, neutral ergonomics, they will be more comfortable. A test ride should help you decide between these 350s.

I am looking for a modern retro bike and am confused between the RE Hunter 350 and the Honda CB350 RS. The Hunter seems to offer more value for money compared to the CB350 RS, but the looks, refined engine, and exhaust note pull me toward the CB350 RS. I am also considering the Meteor 350, but it feels a bit too big.

autocar.india
The Royal Enfield Hunter 350 has stellar pricing, and it's a big reason why we see so many on the road. In addition to that, with its most recent update, the company has also ironed out some of its most pressing issues and made it a more well-rounded machine. The Honda CB350RS has a similar riding experience to the Hunter, but it will feel like a more substantial machine when you're riding it. The Royal Enfield Meteor 350 weighs nearly 200kg and can feel big, especially in traffic or at slower speeds. But once you get moving, it masks its weight really well. A test ride will help you decide which bike is right for you.

I've been using a Honda Grazia for the past 7 years. It's been a very useful one to go to the market for my daily purchases and my clinic. I cover around 350 km a month. For many years, I've been dreaming of owning a bike. The RE Meteor 350 and Honda Hiness350 are on my mind. Please advise.

autocar.india
Both the Royal Enfield Meteor 350 and the Honda CB350 H'ness are great machines in their own right, so we'll list out the strong and weak points of both to help you make your decision. The Meteor 350 has a laid-back riding triangle (if you prefer that sort of thing) and also feels like the bigger machine between the two. The smooth, torquey engine of this Royal Enfield bike is a great companion, although the feet-forward riding position can transfer more road shocks to your back on bad roads. The Honda CB350 H'ness has a more neutral rider's triangle with similar strong points to the Meteor, in addition to being much lighter, which could be a deciding factor for you.You should also consider the Royal Enfield Bullet / Classic 350 and the other Honda CB350 models, as they are similar machines to the aforementioned ones.A test ride will help you decide which is the best bike for you.

I want a good 350cc retro-style bike that should also be comfortable for long hours of riding. Which bike should I choose and why? I am currently considering the Royal Enfield Meteor 350 and the Honda CB350RS. Please suggest if there are any other options as well.

autocar.india
In the 350cc neo-retro bike space, our top picks are any of the Honda CB350 models and the Royal Enfield Bullet / Classic 350. The Hondas have a smooth, thumpy engine but have tall gearing which means you will need to change gears a little more often than on the Royal Enfields so you keep the engine in its optimum zone.Coming to the Royal Enfield bikes, we would steer you toward the Bullet / Classic more than the Meteor 350 because their ergonomics are more neutral, which will be conducive to spending long hours in the saddle. With its feet-forward position, the Meteor 350 will put a little more strain on your tailbone over long distances and road imperfections.Take a test ride of the bikes you're considering before you make your decision.

I’m nearing 50 and want to start riding two-wheelers again. I’ve heard about back pain issues with the Meteor 350, especially for city riding. Is that true? Alternatively, I’m considering the Hunter 350. What would you advise based on my age and city use?

autocar.india
With their feet forward and fists-in-the-wind riding position, cruisers tend to put a lot of weight on your back and over less-than-ideal roads, which can transmit a lot of the bumps through to the rider. If you stay in an area with less-than-perfect roads, we would recommend you look elsewhere. The Hunter, with its upright, neutral ergonomics and pliant suspension, will be able to handle bad roads much better. A test ride will help you decide whether the Meteor or the Hunter is the best bet for you. Other options you can also look at are the TVS Ronin and the Honda CB350 models.

I am 5′2″ (157 cm) tall - is it okay for me to buy the Meteor 350?

autocar.india
The Royal Enfield Meteor 350 has one of the lowest seat heights in the class and is a bike that will be good for shorter riders to get comfortable with. We would also recommend taking a look at the Royal Enfield Goan Classic 350 because that has a seat that's lower still. Take proper test rides before you decide.

I want a new bike for daily commuting as well as long tours (4-5 inter-city or interstate trips per year). I’m confused between the Meteor 350, Himalayan 450, and the Royal Enfield Scrambler XC. Which one should I pick?

autocar.india
Of the options you've shortlisted, the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 will be the best all-rounder with good highway manners, plush suspension for rough roads, and it's usable inside the city too, although its weight and general size need to be kept in mind. The Meteor 350 and Triumph Scrambler 400 XC will be better in the city than the Himalayan, but out on the highway, your comfortable cruising speeds will be capped at 80-100kph. Take a thorough test ride before you decide.
